Job Description

Overview

The person in this parttime position 21 hours) is a registered Clinical Psychologist in the province of Ontario with declared competencies in the assessment and treatment of children adolescents and adults. Reporting to the Director of the CMHRT this position contributes to the management and operations of the CMHRT in addition to graduate clinical psychology training of MA and PhD students in the UW clinical psychology masters and doctoral program. As such this person is expected to work in a collaborative versatile and flexible manner as a valued staff member of the CMHRT and UW Graduate Program in Clinical Psychology.

Responsibilities

Clinical Training and Supervision of Students

  • Train and supervise MA and PhD students in Clinical Psychology in the provision of onsite psychological services including the psychological assessment and treatment of children adolescents and adults;
  • Provide direct training and supervision of CMHRT Teaching Assistants in the provision of adult and child diagnostic screening assessments for clients seeking services
  • Lead weekly CMHRT Intake meetings and take responsibility for clinical decisions regarding disposition; Supervise completion of phone screens and reports; Determine approximate wait times for service and communicate length to CMHRT Intake team
  • Lead the Psychodiagnostic Practicum including didactic teaching seminar leadership supervision and evaluation of student performance in psychodiagnostic interviewing
  • Attend weekly Clinical Area activities of research presentations client conferences and clinical workshops
  • Keep abreast of developments in training models goals and measurement in the development of professional competencies in Clinical Psychology

Administration

  • Administer the policies procedures and daily operations of the Graduate Program and CMHRT in accordance with relevant federal and provincial legislation the College of Psychologists of Ontarios Standards of Professional Conduct the Canadian Psychological Associations Canadian Code of Ethics for Psychologists and the UW MA/PhD Clinical Program goals
  • keep abreast of developments in relevant federal and provincial legislation professional standards professional ethics and UW policies relevant to the provision of psychological services and when necessary incorporate changes/updates into CMHRT policies and procedures
  • Work closely and assist the CMHRT Director CMHRT Administrative Coordinator and DCT as needed in ensuring the smooth implementation and oversight of CMHRT and UW Clinical Psychology Graduate Program daily operations policies and procedures
  • Attend and participate in Clinical Area planning committees that are relevant to the implementation and administration of the UW Graduate Program in Clinical Psychology and/or the Waterloo Region Psychology Consortium
  • Assist the CMHRT Director DCT and Clinical Area faculty develop and implement CMHRT guidelines and procedures including annual updates of the CMHRT Guidelines and Procedures Manual
  • Assist with the coordination of external practicum experiences for Clinical graduate students
  • Conduct phone screens with potential clients to ensure appropriate service
  • Provide backup coverage for the CMHRT Administrative Coordinator
  • When possible participate in the process of selecting Clinical graduate students and hiring faculty (e.g. by meeting with graduate school applicants by attending faculty applicant job talks and providing feedback to the Area)

Special Projects

  • Contribute to the sustainability and growth of the CMHRT and Graduate Program initiatives by assisting in the oversight and implementation of special projects that are defined from year to year by the CMHRT Director and DCT depending on the areas of need

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. from an APA and/or CPA accredited Clinical Psychology program
  • Registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario for assessment and treatment of children adolescents and adults
  • Experience in conducting evidencebased therapy with children/adolescents and adults with expertise in at least one treatment modality
  • Experience with cognitive intellectual diagnostic and personality assessment of children/adolescents and adults
  • Experience in providing supervision
  • Experience in teaching management
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with proven ability to develop strong working relationships with students and colleagues
  • Ability to foster a collaborative and positive working environment
  • Ability to work independently and collegially
  • Ability to assist in the implementation coordination and monitoring of diverse clinical and research activities
  • Ability to provide and receive performance feedback in a constructive effective and timely manner
  • Vulnerable Sector Check is required for this position
