Under the general direction of the Associate Director of Project Delivery Health Design and Construction the incumbent is accountable for project management services to ensure design and construction projects are on schedule within budget highquality costeffective and appropriate to client program needs. Services include all elements of project management from concept through project closeout including initial scoping budgeting funding procurement construction management and closeout of large and small projects.
The incumbent organizes plans and controls the design and construction efforts on projects ranging from $5000 $. This involves selecting professional design staff (architects and engineers) general contractors and subcontractors coordinating the activities of clients construction inspectors and others associated with the projects; managing project progress to achieve overall project objectives consistent with department standards and in alignment with customer expectations including budget cost and quality; resolving problems that arise in the projects; working with state agency officials to ensure compliance and safety. The incumbent has a first line responsibility to communicate effectively with project stakeholders regarding program budget schedule and construction managers may be responsible for coordinating the activities of Real Estate Assistant Project Managers as directed.
Represents UCSF on design and construction projects including new development facility expansion renovations and retrofitting. Responsible for coordinating monitoring and reporting on all design and construction activities. Administrate consultant and construction agreements facilitate quality control maintenance of design and construction schedules construction management and owner representative responsibilities. Manage medium to large size teams of external vendors and internal affiliate and service line staff on medium to large projects. Demonstrate a mastery of project management works with a high degree of autonomy and is responsible for delivering medium to large scale projects with moderate to difficult complexity. Responsible for delivering projects ontime and on budget. Exercises independent judgment in selecting methods techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
Skills
Position will work on the UCSF Benioff Childrens Hospital Oakland Campus located in the East Bay. This position is a hybrid position with the ability to work some days remote. The majority of time is expected to be in person in the Oakland office and jobsite anticipated to be a minimum of 3 days a week and responsive to the project needs and demands based on phases on the project and construction activities.

The salary range for this position is $165000/yr. $195000/yr. (Annual Rate).
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

The organization of UCSF Real Estate is focused on the development planning delivery and management ofphysical space for UCSF. Key responsibilities include a unified approach to oversee the active UCSF growth planned on a multisite campus and to manage the complex metropolitan environments affecting capitalassets andprojects and efforts to align municipal challenges with maximum effectiveness in support of the UCSF mission.
UCSF Real Estate is an integrated unit that enables the alignment of development planning design construction and management of facilities and a lease portfolio of 1M square feet across UCSF. Services are provided through the following departments: Building Permit Services Campus Design and Construction Campus Planning Construction Contract Administration Health Design and Construction Health Major Capital Projects Real Estate Services Benioff Childrens Hospital Oakland Capital Program Management and support through Business Intelligence and Finance Administration and Operations.
The health division of UCSF RE (Real Estate) is focused on healthcare related facilities. This position as part of UCSF Health will support the Childrens Hospital & Research Center at Oakland dba UCSF Benioff Childrens Hospital Oakland (BCH Oakland) and be part of the Design & Construction Oakland department.
Health Major Capital Projectsmanages the implementation and of the BCHOakland capital program and provides project management services to those embarking on capital construction and real estate renovation projects. Staff provide comprehensive project management including programming and design budget development construction administration inspection and movein assistance. Planners designers administrators contractors inspectors and others work together to meet the needs of UCSF and BCHOakland includes approximately 5 UCSF and 15 contract personnel; current annual capital project expenditures of $90M; and oversight and responsibility for a $1B 10year capital development plan.
The combined UCSF Campus and Health organizations include approximately 198 UCSF and 38 contract personnel; operating/recharge budgets of more than $52.2M per year; current year capital project expenditures of $900M; and oversight and responsibility for > $13.3B longrange capital development.
