Job Description
Under the supervision of the Director of the Division of Trauma Recovery Services and in collaboration with the NATRC Senior Adviser the NATRC Executive Director position is responsible for developing implementing and leading administrative operational and training aspects of NATRC. This position requires knowledge of the UCSF Trauma Recovery Center model and the needs of survivors of violence in underserved communities as well as experience successfully growing and leading a diverse team. This position will ensure sustainability of NATRC by identifying and obtaining additional sources of funding. This includes grant writing and fundraising.This position will also work with government leaders policy makers and advocacy partners to support the expansion of TRCs nationwide. There are currently 54 TRCs in 13 States with a plan for expanding the network to a minimum of 66 TRCs over the next few years. This critical leadership position works with the NATRC Steering Committee creates and implements strategic planning on a national basis and engages in national advocacy efforts to create policy changes that will benefit the communities served by NATRC.

Responsible for managing the administrative operations of a school OR a medium to large academic department OR several small departments within a college OR a medium to large nonacademic department. Typically includes all or most of the following functions: IT facilities student services contracts and grants budgetary financial management and / or human resources. Manages a professional staff typically large and / or comprised of professionals in various fields. Assumes accountability for decisions made by subordinates. Performs long and short term planning for function. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve goals results in additional costs and personnel and serious delays in overall schedules.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $143900 $215800 (Annual Rate).

  • At least 5 years of effective senior management and leadership experience in a related field (i.e. traumainformed mental health violence prevention victim/survivor services) along with a track record of successfully scaling up an outcomesoriented organization and staff
  • Highly skilled communication and interpersonal skills to communicate with and influence others both verbally and in writing.
  • Highly skilled in all levels of project management.
  • Experience in grant writing and implementing contracts and grants and overseeing budgets
  • Ability to multitask with demanding timeframes.
  • Expert analytical / problemsolving skills.
  • Excellence in leading and motivating staff partners and other TRCs to achieve strategic plans.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use a culturally humble/antiracist approach to interpersonal relations
  • Skill and experience in developing collaborative relationships with government community and Survivor groups
  • Excellence in leading and motivating both individual staff members and programs to achieve strategic plans.
  • Commitment and experience in building a culture of inclusion diversity and equity in all levels of organizational operations and across a network of programs
  • Excellence in leading and motivating both individual staff members and programs to achieve strategic plans.
  • Strong marketing public relations and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and/or experience working with underserved survivors of violent crime and communities most impacted by violence and structural inequities
  • Knowledge and/or experience in working with multidisciplinary teams that include mental health providers and peer counselors
  • Knowledge and/or experience of working with mental health systems of care


    • Masters or Doctoral degree in clinical social work psychology or public health or a related field
    • License in clinical social work psychology or a related field

    Department Description
    The Department of Psychiatry is the second largest UCSF department at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (ZSFG). It encompasses inpatient outpatient and communitybased services that provide mental health and crisis care for underserved communities. The Division of Trauma Recovery Services (DTRS) in the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (ZSFG) provides integrative and multidisciplinary behavioral health services for victims of trauma and violence. The National Alliance of Trauma Recovery Centers (NATRC) is a program of the Department of Psychiatrys Division of Trauma Recovery Services. NATRC is a national organization which exists to remove barriers to care and transform services for survivors of violent crime especially those from underserved communities and those impacted by systemic inequities.

    One of the ways that NATRC does this is by supporting replication of the Trauma Recovery Center (TRC) model. The TRC model utilizes comprehensive wellcoordinated survivorcentered care that includes assertive outreach clinical case management and the use of evidencedbased mental health services to promote healing and posttraumatic growth.
