Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior ServiceNow Administrator / Technical Lead to oversee the performance availability and governance of the ServiceNow platform. This individual will play a key role in managing system configurations upgrades and daily operationsespecially during the critical transition from pilot to production phases. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical knowledge strong analytical skills and proven experience in a hybrid public sector IT environment.

Hybrid work model: Primarily remote with occasional onsite presence required for major platform releases planning sessions or stakeholder engagements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain the ServiceNow platform to ensure optimal uptime performance and security.
  • Manage patching cycles platform upgrades and release implementations.
  • Monitor system health analyze performance metrics and conduct routine audits.
  • Configure IT Service Management (ITSM) and Hardware Asset Management (HAM) modules to meet business requirements.
  • Implement rolebased access controls in alignment with State of Maryland policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and update platform documentation including technical runbooks and configuration records.
  • Partner with developers business analysts and stakeholders to translate business requirements into functional ServiceNow solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Information Systems Computer Science or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of handson ServiceNow administration experience.
  • Proficiency in ServiceNow platform configuration scripting and automation.
  • Demonstrated experience in patch testing defect management and performance tuning.
  • Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks relevant to state government operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ServiceNow CMDB IT Operations Management (ITOM) and MID Server architecture.
  • Previous work experience in state or local government IT environments.
  • ITIL Foundation certification or ServiceNow Certified System Administrator certification.
