Title: Youth Tackle Football Assistant Coach

Reports to: Head Coach/Program Coordinator

Calendar: Applicable to the Sport

ESP Salary Schedule: Stipend*
Hours: Vary

Location: District Wide

Age Group: 6th 7th 8th Grade

Job Summary

The Youth Tackle Football Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach in executing a structured safe and engaging football program. This role involves helping players build fundamental football skills promoting teamwork and sportsmanship and ensuring a positive learning environment for all athletes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Coach in organizing and conducting practices.
  • Teach and reinforce basic football techniques rules and positionspecific skills.
  • Promote a positive and respectful team environment.
  • Help monitor player safety during practices and games including proper tackling form and hydration.
  • Support gameday duties such as sideline management substitutions and positional coaching.
  • Maintain active communication with the Head Coach and follow established team strategies.
  • Serve as a positive role model for players in attitude effort and behavior.
  • Attend all practices games and team meetings as scheduled.
  • Assist with equipment setup and takedown as needed.

Education and Experience

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required
  • Interest or experience in football (coaching or playing experience preferred).
  • Ability to follow instructions and work cooperatively with the Head Coach and staff.
  • Positive attitude and commitment to working with youth.
  • Completion of required league or school safety training (e.g. concussion protocols).
  • Must pass a background check.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) preferred.

* If you are an hourly ESP with Ogden School District this is considered a voluntary position for which you will receive a nominal fee.
