Job Description

Whats Great About This Job: 

As the Youth Outreach Coordinator you will be responsible for working in community to ensure that youth are aware of all of our amazing programs and opportunities and that everything we do is informed by the community and the youth that we serve. You will build on existing relationships and create new ones to ensure that the community is supported by MLSE LaunchPad and MLSE Foundation and that community voices heard through our spaces programs and staff. This is a people job how we care and show up for our people our community and our City influences the outcomes and impact of our programming. 

Your Team: 

Our one team approach will see you working in collaboration with the Community Engagement and Community Sport Teams. Both teams pride themselves on creating the absolute best experiences for youth in our programming and put our Youth First Always value at the core of their work. We are passionate about the community building and maintaining real relationships the quality of our programming and above all the experience of the youth and staff in our spaces.    

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Outreach:
    • Provide direct outreach support and tracking for multi-year programs new programs and programs serving specific populations.
    • Assist with development and implementation of outreach and marketing activities campaigns and strategies.
  • Relationships:
    • Establish new and maintain current relationships with local high schools and elementary schools to ensure youth teachers and parents feel connected to MLSE programs and opportunities.
    • Promote and represent MLSE LaunchPad and MLSE Foundation amongst community stakeholder groups.
  • Collaborate:
    • Develop collaborative partnerships with community agencies and stakeholder groups to maximize the use of MLSE LaunchPad.
  • Special Events:
    • Support with youth-focused special events and initiatives in the community to maintain and grow community engagement.
  • Programming:
    • Coordinate and support youth sport programs and events.
    • Work with a wide variety of ages and demographics during evenings and weekends.

  • You have an understanding of Youth First Always and the importance of this value in a youth sport context (or a willingness to learn). All of what we plan and do in our spaces centers around the positive experience of the youth and communities we serve.
    • You have knowledge of current issues affecting the community services sector with a preference for expertise in youth work. 
    • You are responsive to the needs of the community in times of celebration and challenge.
    • You have experience working with youth facing barriers in a community-based setting that integrates physical and/or mental wellness. 
    • You share lived experience with the young people served through this role and are comfortable drawing upon that experience to best support their needs. 
  • You care about girls in sport and how inequity in sport continues to impact racialized and marginalized communities and are committed to breaking down the barriers to youth access in sport.
    • You have familiarity with and a passion for applying anti-oppressive and anti-racist principles to your work and engage in continued learning in these areas.
    • You are passionate about sport and believe that sport can change lives. 
  • You are versatile flexible and willing to work within changing priorities with enthusiasm.
    • You can communicate changing needs effectively across numerous diverse communities and community organizations as well as departments across MLSE.
    • You have an excellent ability to interact with diverse communities and community organizations with high energy. 
  • You are highly organized and can manage and prioritize competing responsibilities.
    • We work in a fast-paced environment with a number of different programs events and administrative priorities running simultaneously. Being organized and working as a team are key to your role.
    • High professional standards with the ability to see the big picture and manage practical details. 
  • You are a collaborator.

    • You have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • You have experience leading a diverse team of staff or volunteers.
  • You have experience supporting planning and executing both programs and special events.
    • Many of our projects will include both programmatic and events-based components and will require support for planning delivery and debriefing.
    • You will need strong critical thinking and conceptual skills to think and plan strategically and the ability to translate this into practical operational planning both in written and verbal formats. 

Extra Things That Can Support Your Application: 

  • 3 years working in community engagement or youth in-reach/outreach  
  • Strong experience in developing and supporting programs 
  • Post-Secondary Education Degree or field of study in Youth Programming Recreation or Social Services considered an asset 
  • Certification in First Aid Mental Health First Aid and/or Crisis Prevention & Intervention (CPI)
  • Experience overseeing budgets 
  • Experience working in or have strong familiarity with communities similar to the Regent Park Moss Park neighbourhoods and downtown East side of Toronto
  • Current Vulnerable Sector Check


Additional Information :

Please note:

  • this is an 8-month contract from July 1 2025 until April 30 2026
  • 40 hrs / week with regular evenings and weekends as required
  • location: MLSE LaunchPad @ 259 Jarvis Street with regular travel within the surrounding neighborhood and some travel within the GTA as needed.
