General Information:
JMU Libraries Media Production and Makerspace Services (MPMS) in Rose Library is seeking a parttime student employee to support the production of instructional media for the JMU community with a primary focus on video. Additional media formats may include photography audio graphics and animation. The position involves participating in all phases of media developmentpreproduction production and postproduction. The assistant may also supervise and assist Makery patrons with audio and video recordings including both walkins and scheduled appointments. Ideal candidates will be experienced creative dependable and hardworking with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines.
This role is open to students eligible for either Federal Work Study or Institutional Employment during theacademic year with the possibility of continuation into the following year. Employment can begin in fall (August 2025. The assistant will be expected to use a range of software and equipment to produce highquality instructional media.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist MPMS staff in the preproduction production and postproduction of videos and other instructional media projects both instudio and onlocation using proper recording and editing
techniques.
May supervise and assist Makery patrons with creation of audio and video recordings (scheduled and walkin appointments)
Utilize software and hardware that will aid in creating media related projects.
May create graphics animations and photographs for videos and other related media projects.
Keep constant communication with supervisors on projects keep an accurate account of all work and keep work areas clean at all times.
Qualifications:
Must have experience with one or more of the following applications and be willing to learn on the job:
Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Media Encoder After Effects Photoshop Illustrator Audition etc.
Audacity/GarageBand Final Cut Pro/iMovie or other similar video audio and/or photography editing software.
Prior experience with a basic understanding of videography or photography principles.
Prior experience preferred with working with digital video and photography cameras.
Must be able to schedule shifts between MondayThursday 9am5pm and Friday 9am4pm. Work will be performed in Rose Library.

Students must be degreeseeking students enrolled on at least a halftime basis 6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).
Students must have a 2.0 or better cumulative GPA.
