Overview:
The District Youth Football Program Coordinator will oversee and align football programs from youth through junior high helping transition to high school levels. This role is dedicated to creating a seamless developmentally appropriate pipeline that supports consistent player and coach development. The Coordinator will mentor coaches elevate player performance promote a positive athletic culture and uphold high standards of excellence across the districts football programs
Key Responsibilities
Vertical Program Alignment
- Align youth and junior high football programs to ensure a smooth transition to the high school level through close collaboration with coaches.
- Establish and maintain a cohesive football curriculum ensuring consistency in playbooks coaching philosophy terminology and standards districtwide.
- Define and implement benchmarks for player progression to ensure studentathletes are developmentally preparedphysically and mentallyat each stage.
Coach Recruitment Development and Retention
- Lead recruitment efforts to ensure the hiring of qualified passionate coaches who serve as positive role models.
- Design and deliver a comprehensive coach development program including ongoing training mentorship and professional growth opportunities.
- Foster a supportive coaching environment that encourages retention through regular feedback recognition and developmental support.
- Serve as a mentor to coaches providing guidance in coaching strategies leadership and effective athlete communication.
Player Development (Physical Social and Cognitive)
- Oversee the holistic development of studentathletes emphasizing physical conditioning social skills and cognitive growth.
- Support coaches in teaching proper techniques strength training conditioning and injury prevention.
- Promote sportsmanship teamwork and leadership across all age groups.
- Create and implement ageappropriate engaging practice plans that address developmental needs and challenge players at every level.
Practice Scheduling and Program Structure
- Mentor coaches in designing efficient structured practice schedules aligned with program goals and player development.
- Ensure practices incorporate balanced focuses on skillbuilding conditioning and team development.
- Encourage scheduling practices that promote athlete wellbeing including adequate recovery time and academic prioritization.
Onboarding and Implementation of Playbook and Standards
- Support the onboarding of feeder program coaches to ensure alignment with the high school playbook culture and expectations.
- Provide training and resources to help youth and junior high coaches effectively implement the high school programs standards and systems.
- Maintain consistency in language strategy and across all levels to create a unified program identity.
Communication and Collaboration
- Act as a liaison between youth junior high and high school football programs to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
- Partner with school administrators athletic directors and faculty to align the football program with academic and districtwide goals.
- Regularly evaluate program effectiveness coach performance and athlete development; share findings with district leadership to guide improvement.
Community Engagement and Program Support
- Lead community outreach initiatives to grow participation and support for the football program at all levels.
- Organize annual football camps clinics and parent engagement events to build enthusiasm and strengthen community ties.
- Assist with logistics such as team travel equipment management and event coordination for youth and junior high programs as needed.
Education and Experience
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is required
- Coaching experience at a middle or high school level. Experience could also be extensive work with developmental programs.
- NFHS coaching certificate is preferred
- Good Basic knowledge of the sport is preferred
