Position Summary
Under limited supervision perform professional accounting duties related to complex financial record keeping functions of Grant PUD. Apply appropriate accounting theory and technical knowledge to transactions as well as significant events to ensure accuracy of accounting in accordance with contractual agreements federal and state regulations generally accepted accounting principles bond covenants and Grant PUD financial policies. Exercise professional judgement when necessary in performing a wide variety of routine and nonroutine accounting functions across multiple accounting areas. This position may be requested to lead ad hoc technical accounting projects ensuring proper accounting treatment industry best practices and improving areas such as risk management and governance processes. Analysis will include documentation of procedures and formal accounting policies.

- Responsibilities may include performing and/or overseeing the finance and accounting activities in the areas of general ledger revenues accounts payable accounts receivable payroll project accounting fixed asset management inventory work order ledger maintenance stores accounting fund accounting treasury and various other financial reporting functions.
- Prepare complex journal entries and reconcile general ledger to subsidiary ledgers and financial reports to ensure the accuracy of reported financial information and required compliance.

- Lead in responding to audit requests for respective accounting area and prepare documentation as requested during tax or financial statement audits.
- Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned accounting areas (plant fixed assets accounts payable payroll accounts receivable wholesale power internal controls etc..
- Possess a solid understanding of Grant PUD data and accounting systems. Actively develop skills in using smart lists excel Power BI management reporter and any additional technology determined necessary by management.
- Analyze and record complex transactions related to Grant PUDs unique financial transactions and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
- Complete monthly and quarterly account variance analysis which includes detailed research and documentation of conclusions.
- Lead efforts in drafting memorandums policies and procedures reflecting the appropriate accounting tax treatments State and Federal laws and regulations and conclusions drawn. Demonstrate excellent communication skills both verbally and written.
- Be familiar with contractual agreements FERC regulations GASB pronouncements State and Federal law regulation requirements and Grant PUD policies. Ensure accounting practices align with best practices and regulations.
- Plan develop and execute special projects as requested by management. Develop tools and templates to improve accuracy and efficiency of reporting.
- Represent the Accounting Department on various committees and develop strong relationships with stakeholders throughout the District. Provide training and support to other departments regarding financial information and financial systems as needed. Conduct indepth research and analysis to support Management in use and analysis of budget and financial information for decisionmaking.
- Collaborate with Grant PUD Financial Representatives and other Accounting Department team members to foster efficient effective and accurate financial information for Grant PUD.
- Demonstrated commitment to Grant PUDs mission vision values strategic plan and Grant PUD / IBEW Local 77 Code of Excellence. The incumbent should be familiar with these organizational priorities and behave in a way that aligns with these expectations.
- Understand and adhere to compliance requirements for this position that may include laws regulations security guidelines Grant PUD policies & Procedures.
- May operate a District Vehicle.
- Actively participate in all aspects of our safety program including but not limited to:

- Alerting supervisors and coworkers to unsafe or hazardous working conditions
- Reporting any safety incidents or close calls within 24 hours to your supervisor; and

Required Qualifications (Education Experience Licenses & Certifications):
- Bachelors Degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting or Finance.
- 3 years experience in accounting.
- A valid drivers license with no restrictions.
Preferred Qualifications (Education Experience Licenses & Certifications):
- 3 years experience in accounting within the public utility industry.
Other Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge: Required technical knowledge includes GAAP pronouncements and requirements including GASB BARS and FERC. Knowledge of computer systems and software including spreadsheets database programming word processing and presentation graphics. The knowledge and ability to apply accounting theory and professional judgment is essential. Knowledge of State and Federal laws related to tax reporting and remittance. Solid understanding and experience with internal control frameworks.
- Skills: Requires strong problem solving and team facilitation skills. Demonstrate effective and accurate communication including written verbal and presenting. The ability to present control and risk matters in an understandable way across various levels within Grant PUD. Effective trainer in small and large group settings. Strong analytical skills including the ability to spot assess and address risk materiality and interdependencies and translate it into impact analysis for the financial reporting and recommendations for improvement.
- Abilities: Demonstrated team skills including ability to motivate provide constructive feedback organize and delegate. Effective general people and leadership skills to coach in a team environment. Demonstrate ability to exercise sound judgement in making decisions and evaluating people and ability to handle multiple tasks. Adaptable to working in a fast paced everchanging environment and flexibility in resolving issues and addressing changing priorities. Ability to safeguard confidential information. Ability to develop software systems and controls.
