Qualifications Preferred:

1. Evidence of previous secondary school experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of effective parent communication techniques basic skills development alternative learning experiences and multicultural awareness.
2. Evidence of growing professional competence through progressive inservice coursework and other professional growth activities.
3. Ability to demonstrate through verbal and nonverbal behavior a warm caring personality a sense of humor and a positive enthusiastic approach to working with students parents and staff.
4. Ability to speak and write clearly and listen effectively.
5. Evidence of understanding and management of high school comprehensive school counseling.
6. Understanding of high school curriculum and the management dynamics of the classroom.
7. Demonstrated current knowledge and experience in the student assistance team process.
8. Knowledgeable of community resources and agencies for current problems such as alcohol and other and conflict mediation.
9. Punctual and consistent attendance.

Job Description:

School Counselors deliver developmentally appropriate activities and services directly to students or indirectly for students as a result of consultation with others. School counselors provide universal learning supports for all students in addressing their needs in the areas of social/emotional career development and academics

The successful candidate will be expected to:

1. Provide advisement and appraisal for students academic planning.
2. Provide orientation coordination and academic advising for new students.
3. Interpret cognitive aptitude and achievement tests.
4. Provide counseling to student who are tardy or absent.
5. Provide counseling to students who have disciplinary problems.

6. Provide shortterm individual and smallgroup counseling services to students.

7. Consult with teachers to scheduleand present school counseling curriculum lessons based on developmental needs andneeds identified through data.
8. Interpret student records.
9. Analyze grade point averages in relationship to achievement.
10. Consult with teachers about building classroom connections effective classroom management and the role of noncognitive factors in student success.

11. Consult with the school administrators to identify and resolve student issues needs and problems.
12. Advocate for students at IEP and 504 meetings student study teams and school attendance teams as necessary.

13. Analyse disaggregated schoolwide and school counseling program data.

14. Maintain use of time and program results data
14. Attend and participate in faculty and team meetings.
15. Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules and administrative regulations.
16. Other duties as required that align with the role of the school counselor or are fairly shared amongst certificated staff.

**COMPLETION OF SAFE SCHOOLS WEB BASED TRAINING IS REQUIRED AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT**

Application Procedure: InDistrict staffmust complete an internal online application by10:00 p.m. (PST) on or before the closing date.Inbuilding/Indistrict staff will have eight school days or eight working days during the summer to apply for a vacant position through the online application system. The employee may choose but will not be required to meet with the building administrator to understand the building practices procedures and initiatives specific to the position to which they are applying. After eight days if an inbuilding employee is qualified for the position the principal will offer the employee the position. In the case that more than one inbuilding employee is interested in a position the position will be offered to the qualified and senior employee. If a position is not filled inbuilding after the eight day period the position will be offered to the qualified most senior indistrict applicant if any. Teachers with a summative evaluation score of 1 or 2 are not eligible to transfer unless agreed upon by the District and Association.

OutofDistrict applicantsmust complete the online District application and attach a letter of interest resume valid Washington state teaching credential and copies of transcripts with degree posted. All hires are subject to completion of a satisfactory criminal background check.
