About the Position

As an Underwriting Assistant you will learn by working sidebyside with our underwriters gaining handson experience to develop your understanding of how to make decisions build client relationships and manage deals from start to finish. Youll also work closely with the internal partners who enable our success including actuaries risk analysts IT operations finance and business development. As an integral team resource youll have the opportunity to get involved in portfolio management and other projects. Key Responsibilities:
Provide operational support to the underwriting team; including pre bind in force deal workflow management and postbind account monitoring:
Review incoming submissions liaise with brokers on additional data queries collate responses and produce summary docs for underwriters
Prepare relevant data for the underwriters to support client/broker meetings which you will also attend as appropriate
Liaise with relevant stakeholders both internally and externally to procure required documentation for client accounts and to manage the portfolio
Take ownership over managing the deal workflow lifecycle and assist underwriters in completion of best practice guidelines.
Facilitate completion of relevant compliance and regulatory processes
Maintain ongoing selfdirected professional development and study.
Candidate Qualifications:
Motivated to learn new concepts and build a career in the insurance industry.
Excellent mathematical statistical problemsolving and data management skills.
Strong communication and collaboration skills including the ability to express a pointofview and receive feedback from others.
The ability to operate in a fastpaced underwriting environment with multiple workstreams with timely and accurate results.
Emotional and organizational IQ; strong listening skills global mindset and respect for cultural differences.
Excellent written verbal and interpersonal skills.
Excellent Microsoft Office skills particularly Excel.
Effective planning and organisation skills
