Senior Director Institutional Business Development
Reports To Head of US Institutional

POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Director Institutional Business Development Insurance & SubAdvisory is responsible for new business generation for the Insurance & SubAdvisory channels in the United States and Canada. The ideal candidate will have an extensive network and a proven track record of success engaging with sophisticated investors and raising assets across public and private markets.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Successfully design implement and execute on a strategic sales plan for the Insurance and SubAdvisory channels leveraging Aberdeens strengths in public and private credit specialist equities and real assets
  • Maintain high levels of engagement and deliver solutions to prospective clients resulting in a robust opportunity pipeline and successful conversion to new business
  • Work closely with Aberdeen investment teams and product specialists partnering with them to thoroughly understand our investment capabilities and present them effectively to your prospective clients
  • Coordinate with Aberdeens global insurance team to leverage global relationships and ensure efforts are aligned and efficiently allocated
  • Collaborate with product development in the design and positioning of products and strategies relevant to the Insurance and SubAdvisory channels
  • Work collaboratively in a true team environment with Aberdeens Consultant Relations Institutional Relationship Management Client Service and Marketing teams and our broader business to maximize the resources of the firm to generate successful results
  • Make firmlevel and productrelated presentations to prospects in which you credibly articulate the investment strategy for a diverse range of products and vehicles across multiple asset classes. Must demonstrate the ability to convey unique product attributes which differentiate our strategies
  • Potential to work with select existing client relationships and work collaboratively with Institutional Relationship Management Consultant Relations and Client Service teams to deliver best in class service to our clients and maximize crossselling opportunities
  • Represent Aberdeens corporate strategy and brand effectively in the marketplace
  • Maintain timely and detailed records in Salesforce regarding clients prospects and opportunities
  • Attend industryspecific conferences and events
  • Substantial travel 25 or more) is required with this position


QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelors degree required; CFA and/or MBA preferred
  • Series 7 & 63 required
  • A minimum of 10 years of institutional sales experience
  • Strong knowledge of the Insurance and SubAdvisory markets with extensive network of existing contacts
  • An exceptional team player
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Very strong presentation and meeting leadership skills
  • Outstanding analytical ability and a strong understanding of investment products and capital markets
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with both external and internal business partners
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to interact with people having varying degrees of investment savvy
