The Opportunity:
The Third Grade TwoWay teacher will provide students with instruction in Spanish and English in a selfcontained classroom. The successful candidate will:
- Work cooperatively with gradelevel cluster and wholeschool teams of teachers including specialists in the areas of ESL SSL and Special Education.
- Plan and implement an academically and linguistically active curriculum that is developmentally appropriate and socially/culturally responsive to the needs of the dual language student population.
- Have experience planning implementing and adapting an ongoing curriculum which is based on the Massachusetts State Frameworks as well as the local Cambridge Learning Expectations for third grade.
- Work collaboratively with parents and guardians to engage them in classroom activities and schoolwide events.
- Be a thoughtful and reflective practitioner who demonstrates intellectual curiosity by asking insightful questions.
Your Skill Set:
As the incoming Third Grade Teacheryou will possess many though perhaps not all of the following characteristics and qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree or higher from an accredited college or university required including coursework in first and second language acquisition.
- High levels or native language proficiency in Spanish and English including listening speaking reading grammar and writing.
- Familiarity with and appreciation of thirdgrade students their needs and interests.
- Creativity and passion for dual language and antiracist teaching.
- Previous and successful experience working in a multicultural environment and demonstrated implementation of culturally responsive practices that includes students from diverse ethnic cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Required Massachusetts Certification in Foreign Language Certification 16 (Spanish) Elementary 16.
