Job Description

Summary

The Human Resources (HR) Generalist contributes to the mission of The Museum of Flight as a team player helping design and develop a workplace culture that supports the Museums success and drives positive employee engagement. This role requires a broad knowledge of the HR function and provides professional level HR support in functional areas such as employee performance management engagement compensation employee relations benefits compliance onboarding training and development employment law policies and procedures. This person will actively assist leadership and senior level HR team members in designing developing and implementing strategic HR initiatives to meet the needs of the Museum and a diverse workforce.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Deliver daytoday HR assistance support and sound consultation and guidance with employees and managers in all areas of human resources. Focus areas may include but not limited to performance management employee engagement employee relations organizational design compensation benefits and/or training and development.
  2. Perform daytoday benefits administrative functions including data administration open enrollment tasks vendor management reports audit employee support leaves of absence and communication.
  3. Perform daytoday compensation related programs and procedures including but not limited to job description analysis market pricing compensation review and annual salary survey participation.
  4. Partner with the Payroll and Finance team to ensure all employee changes earnings deductions and pay related items are accurate and audited in a timely manner.
  5. Works closely with senior staff and leadership to manage and resolve complex employee relations issues which may include coaching and guiding people leaders in conflict resolution.
  6. Assist with the design development and implementation of HR policies programs and practices that balance the needs of the Museum and a changing and diverse workforce.
  7. Shared responsibility for training development and driving change to continue the Museums evolution to a more diverse and inclusive institution.
  8. Serve on various organizationwide committees and crossdepartmental work teams to bring HR perspective and consultation on policies procedures and best practices.
  9. Maintains knowledge of trends best practices regulatory changes and new technologies in human resources and employment law.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • A degree in human resources business or related field. A combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Four 4 years of experience in Human Resources.
  • Experience providing professional level HR consultation including interpretation of federal state local laws and regulations internal policies and procedures.
  • Experience with organizing and maintaining HR compliance requirements including employee files job descriptions background checks vendor contracts and benefits related material.
  • Experience with delivering training and development experiences a plus.

Knowledge

  • Knowledgeable in the application of federal state and local regulations including EEO/AAP HIPPA and employment law such as ADA ADEA FLSA FMLA Workers Compensation and COBRA.
  • Knowledgeable in HR compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Knowledgeable in performance management principles and conflict resolution practices.
  • Knowledgeable in Benefits Administration including ERISA regulations.

Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to prioritize work through demonstrated organizational skills; initiative to improve processes.
  • Advanced skills with computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite HRIS platforms and other HR focused databases.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communications skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong problem solving and analysis along with an ability to work with people at all levels in the organization.

Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and handle sensitive matters effectively with integrity diplomacy and professionalism.
  • Excellent time management with a proven ability to meet deadlines with competing priorities.

License & Certification

  • PHR/SHRMCP certification preferred.

Work Environment

  • This positions primary schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
  • May require working additional hours including evenings and weekends based on Museum need.
  • Occasional local travel is expected for this position.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Normal office conditions apply including repetitive arm and wrist movement and long periods of sitting or standing.
  • The ability to bend carry reach to the side front and overhead push pull focus walk stand twist and squat are occasional requirements in a normal office setting.

PaidTime Off

Compensation

The hourly range for this position is $69300.00to$97000.00depending on experience.

Should you receive an offer please expect that it can fall anywhere within this range. A multitude of factors will determine a fair salary based on the following: scope of role within the organization years of relevant experience specific skills and evaluation of capability to execute in role successfully (among other critical factors).
