Job Description
Job Title: Sports & Recreation Leader
Description: The YMCA of Greater St Petersburg is currently looking for Sports & Recreation Leaders with basic knowledge of the rules of the game for basketball soccer and/or volleyball. Responsible for reffing and teaching the basic fundamentals of sports to children ages 5 and up. Responsibilities include fostering an environment where participants build selfesteem enhance athletic skills and gain valuable life lessons focused on the core values of the YMCA. Safety is of the utmost importance along with providing personalized attention support and motivation for all participants.
Responsibilities:
- Sets up and breaks down program areas ensuring that all areas are safe and clean.
- Supports officials staff and coaches during practice and games.
- Responds to and properly documents all incidents member/guest concerns injuries etc.
- Supports Association Director of Sports for sports and recreation season kickoffs and end of the season activities as well as branch special events such as Healthy Kids Day Family Fun Days etc.
- Distributes and collects program surveys as well as marketing materials to increase registration.
- Implements first aid and safety procedures according to YMCA Greater St. Petersburg policies.
- Promotes/supports the recruitment of volunteers and assists with their training development and recognition.
Qualifications:
- Minimum age of 16.
- Experience working with young children preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal problem solving and communication skills required.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Knowledge and/or experience in coaching and delivering an organized quality program is preferred.
- Certifications: CPR/AED and First Aid required in first 90 days of employment.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and lift an equivalent of 30 pounds.

Pay & Perks: Parttime at $14.25 per hour. Flexible schedule includes evenings and Saturdays. You will also have the opportunity to work in additional departments assist with our Family Fun Events Healthy Kids Day Boo Bash and more!
*Level 2 background clearance and 10panel drug test required.
