Job Description

Work Schedule: Overnight Shift; Sunday Thursday 11:45 PM 8 AM

Closing Date: April 28 2025


We are pleased to invite applications from qualified internal candidates for the position of Residential Housing Worker (RHW). About the Role


As a RHW you will be responsible for:

  • Youth Support: Provide individualized coaching develop and implement goal plans and support youth in building life skills (e.g. financial literacy cooking communication problemsolving).
  • Crisis Intervention & Case Management: Use deescalation techniques in crisis situations offer case management and help youth navigate internal and external support systems.
  • Teamwork & Collaboration: Work with Case Workers Youth Program Workers and Clinical Counselors to ensure wraparound supports for youth.
  • Relationship Building & Empowerment: Foster trusting professional relationships with youth using strengthsbased clientcentered harm reduction and antioppressive approaches to support their development and longterm goals.
  • Documentation & Administration: Maintain thorough documentation (e.g. shift change notes safety plans care plans incident reports) conduct suite checks submit repair reports and participate in meetings and training.
  • Community Relations: Collaborate with community partners and referral agencies to address the unique needs of 2SLGBTQIA youth and promote recovery and quality of life through formal and informal resource networks.

What You Bring

  • Education: Postsecondary degree or diploma in social work social sciences or human servicesor an equivalent combination of education experience and training will be considered. Current First Aid and CPR Certification is .
  • Experience: 3 years of experience in crisis intervention and deescalation preferably in transitional or emergency shelter settings.
  • Lived & Professional Experience: Lived experience as a 2SLGBTQIA individual and experience working with marginalized populations especially within the 2SLGBTQIA community.
  • Knowledge Base: Housing First for Youth model harm reduction principles Toronto Shelter Standards and SMIS. Familiarity with TREAT is considered an asset.
  • Diversity Equity Inclusion and AntiRacism/AntiOppression (ARAO): Demonstrated through strong communication skills cultural awareness and the ability to navigate diverse environments while promoting fairness and inclusive practices.


What We Need

  • Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check clearance.
  • Legal eligibility to work in Canada.
  • Availability for overnight shift including occasional weekends and holidays.
