Designs implements and reviews ageappropriate curriculum manages classroom activities and interactions supervises assistant teachers students and volunteers while maintaining a safe and healthy environment.


Job Description:


Essential Functions:

  • Develops ageappropriate lesson plans and activities for young children.
  • Monitors and supervises children to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
  • Communicates effectively with parents regarding childrens progress and behavior.
  • Implements positive discipline techniques to encourage good behavior.
  • Observes and assesses childrens development and growth.
  • Collaborates with other teachers and staff to create a nurturing learning environment.

Education Requirement:

  • Associates Degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education or related field with 30 quarter or 24 semester hours in Child Development or Early Childhood Education or equivalent credential preferred.
  • Bachelors Degree preferred.

Licensure Requirement:

Certifications:

Active Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or equivalent education required.

Skills:

  • Effective communication skills to interact with children families and other professionals.
  • Ability to supervise and direct Assistant Teachers and students.
  • Flexibility and ability to handle multiple tasks and change priorities.
  • Ability to create a positive atmosphere in the classroom.

Experience:

Experience in an early childhood education program preferred.

  • Ability to actively supervise children during gross motor play. Constantly
  • Ability to move rapidly in potentially unsafe physical situations: example: a child falling off the climber. Constantly
  • Ability to bend over quickly to pick up children by their torso not by their arms. Constantly
