As part of this mission DEEL is hosting the Upward Bound program. Upward Bound provides fundamental support to participants in their preparation for college entrance and graduation. The program provides opportunities for participants to succeed in their precollege performance and ultimately in their higher education pursuits. Upward Bound serves high school students from lowincome families in which neither parent holds a bachelors degree. The goal of Upward Bound is to prepare students for the next academic year and increase the rate at which participants complete secondary education and enroll in and graduate from institutions of postsecondary education.
We are looking for a Math tutor to support the Upward Bound Program in Seattle. In this role you will be responsible for mentoring tutoring and providing instructional aid to support 9th 12th grade students enrolled in the 6week summer program. You will work with the Academic Youth Counselor and Youth Instructors mentoring students facing educational barriers to progress through the academic pathway so that they may succeed in high school and beyond. This position will provide you with the opportunity to build leadership skills and gain experience in working with diverse youth from underserved communities. Tutors will support the 6week summer program and may have the opportunity to continue to provide parttime tutoring services throughout the following school year.

These temporary nonbenefits eligible positions are eligible for overtime and are classified as a Yth Suprv 1 and will be expected to start onJune 4 2025 and end on August 12 2025.
The pay rate for this position is $24.01 $24.01 per hour. Employees will be given premium pay in lieu of benefits.
The Upward Bound summer program takes place on the Seattle University campus with the Upward Bound Tutors expected to work Monday through Thursday 7:45 AM4:00 PM.

Individuals selected to fill these temporary positions may be eligible to receive Language Premium Pay (SMC 4.20.360 which provides a $200.00 monthly stipend to qualified bilingual employees who are properly evaluated and assigned to provide direct communication inlanguage interpretation or translation services to the public on behalf of the City of Seattle.
