Job Summary

The Geotechnical Department Manager is responsible for overseeing all operations within the geotechnical department including managing a team of engineers and technicians ensuring highquality technical work and meeting project deadlines. This role involves both leadership and technical expertise with a focus on client relations project management and department growth.

Requirements

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of geotechnical engineers technicians and administrative staff.
  • Oversee the planning and completion of geotechnical investigations including soil boring foundation design and site assessments.
  • Daily monitor of the team members attendance and time sheets including weekly approval.
  • Ensure all geotechnical reports analyses and designs are accurate meet industry standards and are delivered on time.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients stakeholders and regulatory agencies.
  • Assist in preparing project proposals including cost estimates and resource allocation.
  • Communicate with clients daily and address any issues promptly.
  • Monitor and review project progress ensuring that deadlines budgets and quality standards are met.
  • Review and approve technical reports designs and recommendations for projects.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and staff.
  • Develop and implement departmental strategies policies and procedures to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Ensure compliance with local state and federal regulations regarding geotechnical investigations and reporting.
  • Oversee training and development for staff to improve skills and expertise within the department.
  • Monitor industry trends new technologies and advancements in geotechnical engineering to keep the department competitive.
  • Visit job sites and attend meetings.
  • Market to obtain new clients.
  • Maintain communication with existing clients to ensure their satisfaction.
  • Provide and ensure team members are using the needed PPE effectively.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects and tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision
  • Adhering to deadlines
  • Ability to work flexible times
  • Promoting a safe work environment and maintaining a clean and organized work area
  • Great attention to detail is required
  • Reporting any issues to the manager
  • Any other task requested by the manager

Job Skills & Requirements

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Geotechnical Engineering Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Strong knowledge of geotechnical investigation techniques foundation design and soil mechanics.
  • Experience with geotechnical software (e.g. gINT PLAXIS GeoStudio) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong ability to lead and supervise others.
  • Excellent time management skills to effectively prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with the team members management and clients.
  • Experience leading projects successfully.
  • Exceptional problemsolving skills to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong teamwork communication multitasking and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer skills such as Word and Excel.
  • Clean MVR background and drug screening.
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Tasks assigned by the supervisor or manager
