Overview
As a SEN Teaching Assistant you will support students with special needs such as autism and ADHD in a fulltime capacity. Your main responsibility will be to assist the class teacher in managing behaviour and creating an inclusive learning environment for all students.
Responsibilities
- Support students with special needs in the classroom providing oneonone assistance as needed
- Assist the class teacher in implementing behaviour management strategies
- Adapt and modify learning materials to meet the diverse needs of students
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment for all students
- Collaborate with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and other professionals to ensure the individual needs of students are met
Qualifications
- Experience working with students with autism ADHD or other special needs
- Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and strategies
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience empathy and a passion for working with diverse learners
- Relevant certifications or training in special education or support work is desirable
Daytoday
- Providing support to individual students with special needs
- Assisting with behaviour management in the classroom
- Collaborating with the class teacher to implement inclusive teaching practices
- Communicating regularly with the SENCO and other professionals to provide updates on student progress
