Summary of Duties

The Staff Accountant at the casino will assist in managing daytoday accounting functions including general ledger maintenance account reconciliations and preparation of financial reports. This role plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy of financial records compliance with gaming regulations and the smooth completion of monthend and yearend processes. The Staff Accountant will also support audit activities and collaborate with the finance team to provide accurate financial data for decisionmaking.

Position Purpose

The purpose of the Staff Accountant position is to support the casinos financial operations by ensuring accurate and timely financial recordkeeping. This includes managing journal entries performing account reconciliations and assisting in the preparation of financial statements. The role ensures compliance with accounting standards and gaming regulations while providing essential support for financial analysis audits and the overall financial health of the casino.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Work with the accounting team and senior management to ensure the required timelines are met.
  • Assist in the development of budgets and budget projections.
  • Provide uptodate expenditure and balance information.
  • Review accounting transactions verify budget and expenditures to ensure compliance with Internal Controls regulations and restrictions.
  • Assist in the preparation of consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and departmental information.
  • Prepare general ledger entries by maintaining records and files reconciling accounts.
  • Develop and implement accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes.
  • Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
  • Prepare various monthend and yearend auditing tax reporting and other financial and accounting functions.
  • Monitor expenditures throughout the budgetary period.
  • Use various software applications such as spreadsheets relational databases statistical packages and graphics packages to assemble manipulate and/or format data and/or reports.
  • Provide historical reference by defining procedures for retention protection retrieval transfer and disposal of records.
  • Complete operational requirement by scheduling and assigning employees; follow up on work results.
  • Review and analyze departmental financial statements.
  • Prepare month end and year end closing of accounts for assigned operating units.
  • Reconcile inventory assets.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly quarterly and annual financial statements.
  • Prepare and analyze budgets proformas and cash flow projections.
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Track and record daily gaming food and beverage retail and Marketing statistics for daily/monthly and annual analysis
  • Responsible for user support on various business application solutions.
  • Assist Accounting Services as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned. Must be proficient in a PC environment including the use of Excel PowerPoint and Microsoft Word required.


Requirements

Education/Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree from a fouryear college or university in an analytical and/or businessoriented major or a combination of work experience is preferred.
  • Two years experience in casino accounting preferred.
  • Modern principles practices and methods of accounting financial administration reporting computers and accounting software programs.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Audit experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with the use of ten key calculators.

Licensing

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required Gaming License

Work Requirements

Requires problem solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively. Position involves prolonged walking stooping or bending lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds daily. Work is performed in a casino environment with varying levels of lighting air quality noise and / or temperature.
