Job Summary
Provide technical expertise in the identification investigation and resolution of plant operating safety and design issues to ensure plant reliability and availability. Including use of technical expertise to support safe and reliable plant operation and maintenance of components.
Job Responsibilities
- The Salem Site Program Engineer (SPE) will be responsible for assigned Program(s) such as InService Testing Valves InService Inspection Valves or Fire Protection.
- The SPE is responsible for maintaining overall implementation and oversight of the assigned Program(s) for the Salem Station.
- Program engineering positions require maintaining Programs to meet regulatory requirements industry excellence standards and provide industry leadership.
- The Program engineer performs monitoring trending and assessing respective Program to improve reliability and ensure the station is meeting regulatory or industry best practices.
- Perform and support Program assessments outage work scoping Program related technical evaluations trouble shooting and special Programmatic inspections by regulators on site groups and industry peers.
- Tasks include maintaining necessary Program documentation Program health reports Program notebooks and Program related procedures ensuring Program compliance with regulatory and design/license basis requirements.
The Salem Programs engineer also:
- Provides support to the site on complex and strategic Program and process issues.
- Provides strategy and support for special Programmatic inspections by regulators and industry.
- Attends and represent PSEG Nuclear at industry conferences training and meetings.
- Leads diverse teams in resolving station issues.
- Supports Emergency Preparedness Plan.
- Supports the Engineering Duty Team
Job Specific Qualifications
Required:
- BS Degree in Mechanical Civil or Chemical Engineering or related technical degree with a minimum of 7 years performing Engineering work in a nuclear or in a related industry.
- Available for Shift Work during plant outages and generation challenges.
- Must meet Nuclear requirements for Unescorted Site Access.
- Support plant outage engineering priorities and participate in the Emergency Response Organization and Engineering Duty Team for emergent plant issues
- Attend/represent PSEG at industry seminars trainings and meetings.
Desired:
- Nuclear Power Plant Engineering or equivalent experience
- Current or Previous SRO license/cert
- Masters Degree or US Navy Nuclear experience
- Industry Leadership and System or Component SME
- Engineering In Training Certification
- Professional Engineer (PE) License
- Experience managing reliability of mechanical systems or components
- Experience managing projects and/or external vendors
