The Role
Veeva is seeking a talented and motivated Systems Architect to join our dynamic team. As a Systems Architect you are innately curious have a penchant for problemsolving and will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability scalability and performance of our systems. Our mission is to protect provide for and progress the software and systems utilized by our product engineering teams. This role is a blend of strategic planning and handson requiring a leader who can both design cuttingedge IT solutions and roll up their sleeves to implement them.
Ideal candidates have worked in enterprise software development or for a highgrowth technology company.
What Youll Do
- Provide comprehensive architecture plans for multiple cloudbased applications supporting our internal stakeholders across engineering product support training and services teams
- Partner with stakeholders (business leaders DevOps security infrastructure) to understand application usage future growthh and strategic goals
- Recommend specific hardware software and methodologies that align with industry best practices standards and organizational goals
- Oversee the implementation and integration of key business systems
- Analyze performance and ensure the applications (GitLab Jira Confluence TestRail Mattermost) hosted in AWS meet the scalability and reliability needs of our internal teams
- Perform root cause analysis for complex failures and offer modern solutions and tools
- Establish metrics to monitor system performance proactively identify issues and recommend solutions for optimal performance
- Identify and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks and reliability issues across the stack
- Implement best practices for cloudbased infrastructure ensuring security scalability and cost efficiency
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends including AI to identify opportunities for innovation within enterprise business systems
- Create detailed documentation of systems architecture designs technical specifications and implementation plans
- You want to make the system better every day and are selfdriven to learn all that is necessary to provide fullstack diagnostics and determine the root cause of problems
- Communicate effectively with engineering and infrastructure teams and describe problems succinctly with sufficient detail
- Engage in realtime communication during outages with both technical and nontechnical audiences
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Computer Engineering Information Technology or other similar degree or equivalent work experience
- 8 years of working experience as a Systems Architect
- Strong understanding of computer systems networking and data storage
- Proven ability to architect scalable solutions across enterprise applications
- Experience with AWS and container orchestration tools (e.g. Kubernetes)
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools (e.g. Terraform Ansible) and version control systems (e.g. Git)
- Independent learner curiousto learn new technologies
- Excellent problemsolving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues under pressure
- Experience with disaster recovery planning and implementation
- Experience with performance tuning of databases and distributed storage systems.
- Demonstrated history of incident management and leadership ability
- Strong attention to detail goaloriented
- Commitment to excellent customer service
- Effective communication skills across all levels whether talking to individual contributors or executives
Nice to Have
- Working knowledge of Git repositories
- Solid scripting skills; experience with Shell Bash Ansible Python Go Ruby etc.
- Jira data center implementation experience
- GitLab implementation experience

Compensation
- Base pay: $115000 $165000
- The salary range listed here has been provided to comply with local regulations and represents a potential base salary range for this role. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range above or below depending on experience and location. We look at compensation for each individual and base our offer on your unique qualifications experience and expected contributions. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation in addition to base salary such as variable bonus and/or stock bonus.
