Head Chef
35000 tips OTE 38000 (Probation salary: 36000
West Bergholt Colchester

Were currently recruiting for an experienced Head Chef to lead the kitchen of a respected independent gastro pub in West Bergholt just outside Colchester. This is a fantastic opportunity for a chef with a minimum of two years experience in a similar leadership role who is passionate about fresh seasonal cooking and delivering a consistent highquality dining experience.

About the Role

As Head Chef youll be responsible for managing all aspects of the kitchen from planning and delivering inspiring menus to maintaining excellent standards of food safety and team performance. Youll have the opportunity to shape the menu using fresh locally sourced ingredients and work closely with the management team to ensure smooth and efficient service.

About the Client

Our client is an independent wellestablished gastro pub with a loyal local following. Known for its welcoming atmosphere and commitment to quality the venue is situated in a scenic village location and prides itself on offering a menu that highlights seasonal and locally sourced produce. The team is professional yet downtoearth with a strong culture of collaboration between kitchen and frontofhouse.

Working Hours

  • 40 hours per week

  • 5 working days 2 consecutive days off

  • Stable rota with a genuine commitment to worklife balance

  • 3month probation period at 36000 then 35000 tips (OTE 38000

Key Duties

  • Overseeing daily kitchen operations and team performance

  • Designing and delivering seasonal menus

  • Managing stock orders and supplier relationships

  • Ensuring compliance with all food hygiene and safety regulations

  • Training and mentoring junior staff

  • Maintaining high standards of presentation and consistency

Key Requirements

  • At least 2 years experience in a Head Chef role

  • Relevant culinary qualifications and uptodate food hygiene certification

  • Strong leadership communication and organisational skills

  • Confidence in working with fresh seasonal ingredients

  • Ability to manage budgets waste and costings effectively
