Job Title: Principal Systems Engineer

Location: Huntsville AL (Hybrid)

Canvas is looking for a talented Principal Systems Engineer Ballistic Missile Defense Subject Matter Expert (BMD SME) to join our team! In this role you will get to facilitate the modeling simulation and analyses of future concepts that shape the future of the Missile Defense System (MDS) and respond to Warfighter needs.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

Duties:

• Facilitate the definition of future concepts for modeling simulation and analysis.
• Act as a subject matter expert in future concept definition architecture analyses and reviewing preliminary results prior to delivery to customer.
• Assess MDS threats capability gaps challenges needs and opportunities and develop potential system mitigations and capability revolutions and evolutions at the architecture level.
• Support modeling & simulation (M&S) efforts related to the above including analysis efforts on DoD High Performance Computing (HPC).
• Develop analysis plans run M&S to execute the analysis plan perform analysis on the results prepare analysis reports and provide reviews of analysis products.

Requirements:

• Masters Degree in STEM Field. *Experience may be substituted for education with customer approval.
• 12 years of experience in missile defenserelated or other complex large DoD program/project.
• Masters Degree in STEM Field with 12 years of experience in missile defenserelated or other complex large DoD program/project.
• Active Secret clearance required with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI.
• Extensive experience in the modeling assessment and evaluation of future missile defense architectures.
• Deep understanding of the current MDS architecture and future concepts

Security Clearance:

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance; Active Secret clearance desired.

Desired Experience:

• Active TS/SCI Clearance.
• Experience with the definition and use of advanced concepts and algorithms for the M&S of MDS architectures.
• Experience with M&S and analysis of MDS architectures involving both directed and kinetic energy weapons and other future concepts.
• Experience supporting systems engineeringrelated architecture design activities.
• Experience with multidisciplinary analysis and optimization environments including analysis of diverse physical phenomena.
• Specialized MDS analysis experience in: threat characterization trajectories RF sensing/signatures and/or EO/IR sensing/signatures.
• Proven ability to coauthor numerous reports and provide significant contributions to MDS studies and responses to Congress.
• Experience with Cyber gaps mitigations and future Cyber Architecture development.
• Experience serving as a key advisor and collaborating on products that may go outside the Agency such as DoD Services Combatant Commands industry experts etc.
• Ability to develop and use MDS architecture simulations; knowledge of MATLAB and/or Python is a plus including HPC experience and/or MBSE experience.
• Ability to perform technology assessment & analysis and provide insight on the utility of potentially useful technologies.
