Job Posting Summary:
As a member of Ensworths inhouse security team Security Officers will collaborate with all stakeholders in an effort to provide a safe and secure environment for Ensworths students employees and visitors. Security Officers investigate allegations of suspicious/criminal incidents; or any incident that could jeopardize the overall safety and security of students/staff. Additionally Ensworth Security Officers are often the first line of customer relations with students employees and visitors; the ideal candidate will effectively provide top level security with a customer service focus.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Abides by Ensworths Employee Handbook and Code of Conduct
- Commits to the ideals expressed in Ensworths Mission Statement Vision Statement and Diversity Equity and Inclusion Statement
- Conducts security inspections to deter criminal and delinquent activities
- Checks general security of all Ensworth property (i.e. windows doors gates)
- Creates and fosters a setting that is safe with a focus on prevention and early intervention strategies
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively and use deescalation strategies prior to or in lieu of use of force
- Educates all stakeholders on security related measures
- Interacts with students employees and visitors on a daily basis to build positive relationships
- Helps lead any implantation of school safety initiatives
- Helps coordinate with other agencies when crisis situation occurs
- Schedules and facilitates emergency drills in conjunction with appropriate local agencies
- Provides high visibility and accessibility to Ensworth students employees and visitors in all buildings as well as throughout on campus events
- Works with the Director of Security and Facility and Risk Analyst to ensure an emergency management plan is reviewed and updated on an annual basis
- Understands and implements the incident command structure
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Experience:
- Shall be a U.S. citizen
- Shall be at least 21 years of age
- Shall possess a valid drivers license
- Shall possess a High School Diploma or GED (required). Bachelors degree in a related field (preferred)
- Shall have no felony convictions or certain misdemeanor convictions (list provided by Director of Security) in order to meet licensing requirements for this position
- At least 3 years of experience in a related field required (law enforcement military security). Prior experience in a school environment is preferred.
- Shall have intermediate technical competencies and ability to use computers and technology such as Microsoft Windows and Office products basic office equipment mechanical equipment etc.
- Welldeveloped interpersonal written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with all constituents in a school environment including students coworkers parents alumnae volunteers and the public.
- Must be willing to wear designated security uniform & maintain all assigned equipment
- Must successfully complete background screening and verification
- Continued Education Programs (as required by Grade Level and/or position) Periodically participate in different training sessions identified by you the employee and/or Divisional Leadership/Supervisor with the goal of keeping our teachers and staff up to date with current teaching methods practices and any new knowledge in their respective field. Dependent on the program such training may need to take place outside of normal working hours and/or in the summer months.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Regularly works in standard office or classroom conditions and climate and regularly outdoors in varying weather conditions and climate
- Regularly uses close and distance vision; ability to observe individuals and scenarios from various distances
- Consistently moves around campus throughout the day; infrequently works at a desk for extended periods of time; occasionally positions oneself on the ground or contorts body to address any safety or security threats
- Ability to move items weighing up to 50 lbs. across the campus
- Sometimes works in a stressful environment effectively dealing with a wide variety of challenges deadlines and a varied and diverse array of contacts; demonstrates stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions
- Regularly works flexible hours and overtime to support before and afterschool or weekend events
- Ensworth requires employees to be physically present on campus with limited exceptions that are at the sole discretion of the School. Under extraordinary circumstances some or all of the workforce may be required to move to a remote working environment. Additionally certain individuals may also be approved for limited remote work based on the nature of the job description specific circumstances and only with written prior approval by a direct supervisor.
