Join our Children and Young Peoples Travel Service (CYPTS) as a Deputy Safeguarding Lead.

Working within the CYPTS Safeguarding Team you will play a vital role in enabling the Local Authority to meet its statutory duties in respect of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people accessing a transport provision to attend education.

The role of the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead carries a significant level of responsibility and we are looking for a committed and passionate individual who is organised selfmotivated and willing to make valuable contributions to the CYPTS Safeguarding Team.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated team where you will support the Designated Safeguarding Lead inthe management of safeguarding issues provide advice and support to managers staff and commissioned services on child welfare safeguarding and child protection matters.

You will support with liaising with a range of key agencies (e.g. LADO CASS Police Health Schools) of any incidents or allegations of abuse and harm. With a forensic level of detail and a strong ability to challenge you will carry out onsite visits to schools and commissioned providers (where required) to gather crucial information for safeguarding investigations and provide comprehensive reports on your findings.

We are looking for someone who can do the following:

  • To assist in the management of all safeguarding and child protection concerns allegations incidents relating to the Service
  • Ensure that statutory timescales are adhered to for reporting safeguarding and child protection concerns
  • To support the Designated Safeguarding Lead in making referrals to key safeguarding / child protection agencies (e.g. LADO CASS or Police) of any incidents or allegations of abuse and harm
  • To provide support with investigations as required
  • Manage highly sensitive and confidential information
  • To maintain robust safeguarding records and update case files
  • Challenge / escalate poor practice
  • To provide advice on the service training needs and development providing training where appropriate contributing to lessons learned from case reviews/serious incidents
  • Buildeffective working relationships with multiagency partners and stakeholders
  • Advise and support individuals at all levels within the organisation on safeguarding matters where appropriate
  • Support in the development of safeguarding guidance for the Service
  • Coordinate the distribution of policies procedures and safeguarding resources throughout the Service
  • Update safeguarding performance reports as required

The role will offer hybrid working with travel across Birmingham.
