As a Performance Improvement Associate you will support the Navys Problem Solving and Process Improvement Office (PSO) in driving performance improvement initiatives across Navy and Department of the Navy commands. You will focus on strategic planning process improvement and change management to align with the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) readiness goals.
This role requires experience in leadership development crossfunctional team coordination metric tracking and performance improvement methodologies and is ideal for individuals who have a passion for problemsolving an analytical mindset and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams in a dynamic missioncritical environment. This role involves periodic travel and requires a commitment to upholding the Navys high standards of professionalism accountability and mission focus
This position is located in our Arlington VA office; however a hybrid working model is acceptable.
Assist in facilitating P2P design workshops and sessions to introduce P2P frameworks and metrics.
Assist in developing tracking and refining outcomes and driver metrics including creating driver trees and updating functional and technical data definitions.
Support crossfunctional teams with root cause analysis corrective actions and process improvement initiatives.
Provide support for P2P forums including preparing executivelevel briefs and summaries and updating task management systems.
Monitor progress on P2P tasks and coordinate status updates meetings for Echelon 1 and Supported Commander Forums ensuring alignment with Navy readiness goals.
Develop and refine P2P artifacts such as problemsolving canvases dashboards bowler charts and scorecards to communicate progress to diverse audiences.
Help drive organizational buyin for performance improvement initiatives through strategic communication and change management efforts.
Support crossfunctional teams by applying process improvement tools and methodologies to address performance deficiencies and assist with root cause analysis.
Benchmark and incorporate best practices from industry to recommend correction actions and implementation timelines.
Assist in creating workflows dashboards and analytics to optimize performance management activities.
Assist in developing and maintaining training materials including playbooks guides instructional resources and practical exercises for problemsolving and process improvement.
Assist in training Navy personnel on performance improvement methodologies and analyze feedback to refine training programs.
Assist in evaluating the adoption and effectiveness of problemsolving and process improvement capabilities within commands.
Assist in the collection and preparation of data for annual summaries and progress reports to Navy leadership.
Contribute to the creation of case studies
Bachelors degree OR three plus years experience in the areas of data analytics process improvement strategic planning driverbased performance management practices and program design. Four years additional experience substitutes for a Bachelors degree (minimum of seven years total); a Masters Degree in business finance accounting economics engineering information technology or organizational change equals three years experience.
Prior military or government service within the Department of Defense.
Proficiency in performance improvement frameworks such as Change Management Lean Six Sigma Theory of Constraints Agile or Scrum methodologies and/or P2P.
Experience in developing and tracking metrics driver trees conducting causeandeffect analysis and reporting structures.
Proven ability to conduct root cause analysis recommend and implement corrective action plans.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills including the ability to draft executivelevel presentations briefing materials and summary papers.
Proficiency in crafting change management strategies for organizational buyin and engaging stakeholders across all organizational levels.
Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with Navy leadership and diverse stakeholders.
Comfortable working in dynamic and iterative environments adjusting priorities to meet evolving Navy goals and objectives.
Desired qualifications/nonessential skills required:
Bachelors degree in finance accounting economics engineering information technology or organizational change.
Certification in Lean Six Sigma (Black Belt or higher) or other process improvement methodologies is a strong advantage.
U.S. Navy Fleet experience and knowledge of Navy governance forums and reporting structures including Echelon 1 and Supported Commander forums (e.g. Aviation Surface SUB/Shipyards Supply MyNavyHR Cyber Mission Force Strategic Sealift or Military Construction.
Experience supporting Navyspecific initiatives such as P2P Get Real Get Better (GRGB) and familiarity with the Naval Performance Improvement Educational Resources (NPIER) toolset is a significant advantage.
Understanding of organizational change management principles.
Ability to recommend best practices from commercial organizations to enhance Navy process improvement efforts.
Experience working as a consultant or advisor to senior leadership.
