The North Carolina Department of Revenue is recruiting for an Assistant Director of our Financial Services Division (Division). The Divisions primary purpose is to support the Department of Revenues mission of funding public services benefiting the people of North Carolina through the administration of tax laws and collection of taxes due in an impartial consistent secure and efficient manner. The Department of Revenue (Department) collects billions of dollars annually from taxpayers. The Division in addition to managing the operating budget for the Department is responsible for ensuring that the collection of taxes net of refunds distributions and transfers are reported accurately and timely and that billions of tax distributions to local governments are processed timely and accurately. The Division consists of Administration Tax Services Unit Budget Services Unit Distribution Unit and Debt Setoff Unit.
This position reports directly to the Departments Chief Financial Officer and assists in planning organizing and directing the accounting and business operations of the Financial Services Division including but not limited to budget development and management accounting and financial reporting payroll cash management and internal control procedures. This position is responsible for providing technical and supervisory financial support to staff within the Division as well as managing the operations of the Division and staff. This position works closely with the Chief Financial Officer and executive leadership to assist with budget operations including preparation and development of the Departments annual operating budget. Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer this position leads the preparation of the annual financial statements to ensure they are submitted timely and accurately to the Office of the State Controller. In addition the position is responsible for the preparation of annual Department financial statements that are due to the Office of the State Auditor. Position acts as liaison with internal and external auditors.

Bachelors degree in accounting or a degree in business administration finance or public administration or a related discipline from an appropriately accredited institution with 18 semester hours of accounting coursework; and seven years of professional accounting experience in the preparation of interpretive or analytical accounting financial statements and reports; of which at least three are supervisory/managerial; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
