Position Overview:
The Program Assistant is an integral member of Marketing & Communications team supporting the planning coordination communication and delivery of a wide range of cultural programs public events and community engagement initiatives. This handson role provides meaningful careerrelevant experience in the arts and cultural sector while fostering skill development in event coordination outreach and crossdepartmental collaboration.
This placement is specifically designed for a current postsecondary student to support their academic and professional growth through practical experience in a dynamic arts organization.

The Bentway Conservancy is a nonprofit organization and registered charity that works closely with the City of Toronto artists & creatives and local communities to bring our work to life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development and of outreach activities in support of public programs and events including distributing materials postering sending emails talking to community members and tabling at events.
- Research and identify outreach and engagement opportunities aligned with Bentway programming goals.
- Support the documentation evaluation and reporting of programming and outreach activities. Including participating in creative ideation and content development for crossplatform promotions and reporting on ticket sales press mentions and other key metrics.
- Assist with the planning promotion coordination and onsite delivery of publicfacing programs and events including performances workshops talks and tours.
- Develop a strong understanding of The Bentways programming and be prepared to answer questions from the public and external stakeholders.
- Support the administration and logistics of thirdparty events fielding inquiries scheduling and other event coordination tasks.
- Build and maintain relationships with local organizations and community partners with a focus on engaging historically underrepresented groups.
- Liaise with other departments including Finance Events Communications and Development to ensure deliverables have been accounted for and coordinated.
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team.
- Organized detailoriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated problemsolving abilities and the capacity to work well under pressure.
- Experience or interest in outreach community engagement and event support.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic fastpaced environment.
- Availability to work some evenings and weekends as required.
- Knowledge of Torontos diverse communities and/or experience working with historically underserved groups is an asset.
- Enthusiastic about arts culture and public space.
Requirements
This is a Student Work Placement Program job posting. In addition to the roles qualifications applicants must also meet the following eligibility criteria in order to be considered for the position. You are eligible if you:
- Are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident or have refugee status in Canada (note: NonCanadian students holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent status are not eligible).
- Are legally entitled to work in Canada;
- Are currently enrolled in postsecondary program at recognized Canadian PSE institution (university college CEGEP polytechnic)
- Are willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment
