The Opportunity

WSDOT is currently seeking a skilled Facilities Senior Plumber in Shoreline WA.This senior specialist position is responsible for performing expert journeylevel work installing maintaining troubleshooting repairing and performing preventative maintenance on a variety of building systems (e.g. water plumbing sewer air and natural gas). This position is expected to consider personal coworker and public safety as a first and foremost objectives during the planning and performance of all activities in connection with work assignments.


What to Expect

Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role the Maintenance Mechanic 4 will:

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance of facilities systems such as water supply drain waste vent and compressed air systems in regional facilities and on sites.
  • Evaluate and diagnose the conditions and issues of building plumbing drainage or other piping systems and determine if modifications or repairs are needed for optimal performance.
  • Develop repair strategies or coordinate with contractors as necessary.
  • Perform work and/or instruct other facility maintenance personnel in the methods of repair of these systems and components.
  • Perform routine corrective and preventative maintenance on building plumbing drainage or piping systems and equipment.
  • Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body such as climbing lifting balancing walking stooping and handling materials.
  • Use hands and arms in handling installing positioning and moving materials and manipulating things.
  • Operate and work from motor vehicles scissor lifts bucket trucks forklifts and man lift at heights greater than 50 feet.
  • Determine what PPE is required for each activity and use it consistently.
  • Repair/replace hot water heaters plumbing fixtures valves and stops.


Qualifications

To be considered for this opportunity the following are required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Current Valid Drivers License
  • Four 4 years of experience of journeylevel experience working in the plumbing trade.
  • Ability to lift and transport up to 50lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to work at heights greater than 50ft.
  • Ability to occasionally work beyond scheduled shift be on standby duty or be called in for emergency situations.


It is preferred that qualified candidates also have:

  • Graduation from an accredited trade school
  • Six 6 years of experience of journeylevel experience working in the commercial plumbing trade.
  • Commercial Plumbing License
  • Current backflow tester certification
  • Experience as a commercial service plumber
