Position Summary

As an Electrical Subsystem Engineer at Airbus US Space and Defense you will be an integral member of the Manufacturing Engineering team providing technical expertise and support for the development testing and debugging of satellite electrical subsystems. Your primary focus will be on the integration testing and control of one or various subsystems including Electrical Power Systems (EPS) Data Handling Systems (DHS) Attitude and Orbit Control Systems (AOCS) Radio Frequency (RF) Systems and the Test Environment. You will collaborate with crossfunctional teams ensuring the highest level of performance and reliability for Airbus satellite programs.


Responsibilities

  • Test Script Development & Debugging:
    • Define requirements and validate test scripts for a satellite electrical subsystem (EPS DHS AOCS RF).
    • Support the debugging process to troubleshoot and resolve issues during the test phases.
    • Collaborate with software engineers to improve test automation and optimize test coverage.
  • Subsystem Control & Integration:
    • Assist in the integration of electrical subsystems into the overall satellite systems ensuring proper functionality and interoperability.
    • Monitor subsystem performance during test activities identifying discrepancies and recommending corrective actions.
    • Support test campaigns ensuring all procedures are followed and documentation is maintained.
  • Collaboration & Coordination:
    • Work closely with Systems Engineers Hardware Engineers and Test Engineers to ensure alignment between design test and integration efforts.
    • Contribute to the development of verification and validation plans for satellite subsystems.
    • Participate in the analysis of test data providing feedback for performance improvement and optimization.
  • Continuous Improvement & Documentation:
    • Develop and maintain test protocols reports and documentation to support the satellite manufacturing lifecycle.
    • Provide input to improve manufacturing and testing processes contributing to the continuous improvement of operations.
    • Stay current with industry trends technologies and best practices in satellite systems and testing.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelors in electrical engineering Aerospace Engineering or a related field required.
  • Masters degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 35 years of experience in electrical subsystem engineering ideally in satellite or aerospace systems.
  • Handson experience with one or more subsystems: EPS DHS AOCS RF or test environments.
  • Proven track record in test script development and debugging in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with spacecraft system integration verification and testing.

Knowledge Skills Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Electrical Subsystems Knowledge:
    • Strong understanding of Electrical Power Systems (EPS) Data Handling Systems (DHS) Attitude and Orbit Control Systems (AOCS) Radio Frequency (RF) systems and test environments.
    • Familiarity with satellite power budgets power management systems signal processing and communications systems.
  • Testing & Debugging:
    • Experience with satellite subsystem testing including functional performance and environmental tests.
    • Proficiency in debugging tools and techniques for satellite hardware and software.
    • Familiarity with test equipment (oscilloscopes multimeters signal generators power supplies etc..
  • Communication & Collaboration:
    • Strong communication skills to work effectively with crossfunctional teams.
    • Ability to create clear concise test documentation and reports.
    • Experience in technical presentations and discussions with engineering teams.
  • Attributes:
    • Strong problemsolving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems.
    • Detailoriented with excellent organizational and documentation skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fastpaced environment.
    • Proactive attitude with a continuous improvement mindset.

Technical Systems Proficiency:

  • Software & Tools:
    • Proficiency in scripting and programming languages (Python MATLAB LabVIEW etc. for automation and test script development.
    • Familiarity with test management tools and software for satellite systems.
    • Experience with simulation software for modeling electrical subsystems.
  • Atlassian JIRA/Confluence tool sets.
  • PLM Solutions.
  • Microsoft Office 365 Suite.
  • SAP or similar ERP system.
  • MES systems.

Travel Required:

  • Up to 10 travel required (domestic or international).

Eligibility:

  • U.S. Citizenship required

Clearance:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
  • Active DoD security clearance at Top Secret/ SCI desirable.

Physical Requirements:

  • Carrying: able to carry documents and/or electronic equipment up to 20lbs/9kg.
  • Lifting: able to lift documents and/or electronic equipment up to 20lbs/9kg.
  • Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull items in office areas.
  • Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of time at computer and in meetings.
  • Squatting/Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.
  • Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice.
  • Walking: able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
