NSLSII Electrical Design Group has an opening for a Principal Drafter for a 2year term position. Reporting to the Design Group Supervisor the candidate will perform drafting duties in support of NSLSII Accelerator Division. This position will require close interaction with technicians engineers and scientific staff. The main task will be to provide electromechanical drafting document revision control and library creation/management using a variety of CAD/CAM platforms. Tasking will also include provision of drafting support for development and special project initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- CAD library creation/management
- Create and maintain Schematic and PCB Symbols per IPC2221
- Experience with ECN Processes (Engineering Change Notification)
- Ability to work directly with scientific engineering and technical staff
- Maintain and implement safety practices and procedures applicable to daily activities
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Requires a high school diploma or equivalent plus:
- A technical institute Adult BOCES certification AA degree in a technical field CCI program completion at BNL plus 2 years experience or;
- A technical high school certification program and 3 years relevant work experience or;
- 4 years relevant work experience.
Preferred Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Some knowledge of AutoCAD Design Software
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications
- Experience with Microsoft Office products
- Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a diverse group of technical staff
- Overtime may be requested at times
Environmental Health & Safety Requirements:
- Occasional work at heights extreme temperature confined space oxygen deficiency radiation areas static magnetic fields on scaffolding and ladders
- Must be able to complete tasks repeatedly
- Must have ability to view color depth perception and hearing
Other Information:
- Work arrangement (OnSite) Security Clearance drivers license travel requirements etc
Brookhaven Laboratory is committed to providing fair equitable and competitive compensation. The full salary range for this position is $30.50 $42.00 / hour. Salary offers will be commensurate with the final candidates qualification education and experience and considered with the internal peer group.
