Job Description

Position Details

This position requires employees to work a 40hour workweek consisting of one of four shifts (days mids swings graves) to support a24houraday sevendayaweek operation.

The City of Auburn is home to over 80000 residents and encompasses over 29.8 square miles of land two rivers and is part of two counties King and Pierce. The City operates as a StrongMayor form of MayorCouncil government with a City Council of seven atlarge members. Auburn is also home to hundreds of businesses ranging from manufacturing to retail.

OUR POLICE DEPARTMENT
The Auburn Police Department is committed to building a positive proactive partnership with the citizens of Auburn and strives to be a premier law enforcement agency that is trusted supported and respected. The department is comprised of 150 staff to include: Chief of Police Assistant Chief 5 Commanders 13 Sergeants 108 Officers/Detectives 16 NonCommissioned staff and 6 support staff.

POSITION DETAILS
The employee performs a variety of semiroutine clerical/technical work in support of the Police Department. Work requires a high degree of confidentiality and interpersonal sensitivity.

This is a NonCommissioned position represented by our IAM Union and their current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) is effective 1/1/22 12/31/2024.

Primary Duties

*Performs office procedures including filing composing and keyboarding data entry of police reports and performing record checks.

*Responds to inperson counter inquiries and answers multiline telephone system; provides general information or refers to appropriate individual; May deal with irate intoxicated and/or combative citizens.

*Tallies traffic and criminal citations and records for department use; prepares cases for court docket.

*Maintains communication with officers in the field providing information and data when requested.

*Operates computer systems for accurate data entry and report processing/retrieval.

*Effectively handles multiple requests tasks and/or emergency situations in short time frames and/or simultaneously.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or equivalent; and two years of related work experience. Experience in a law enforcement agency preferred. Additional related education may substitute for up to one year of the required work experience on a month for month basis.

Must be able to pass an extensive police background investigation including criminal history check credit history check polygraph and psychological evaluation. Must be able to pass the Level 1 State ACCESS course within 6 months of employment.

Must be able to work rotating shifts to support a 24houraday sevendayaweek operation.

All applicants for examination for this class must be citizens of the United States or lawful permanent residents and be able to read and write the English language.
