Human Resources Generalist Position Summary
The Human Resources Generalist position is to administer policies relating to all phases of human resources activity and to promote and harness GSTs company culture and values. Primary focus will be in talent acquisition.
Job Requirements
- Administers compensation benefits and performance management systems and safety and recreation programs.
- Conducts wage surveys within labor market to determine competitive wage rate.
- Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies procedures and reporting are in compliance.
- Recruits interviews tests and selects employees to fill vacant positions.
- Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals.
- Keeps records of benefits plans participation such as insurance and pension plan personnel transactions such as hires promotions transfers performance reviews and terminations and employee statistics for government reporting.
- Trains management in interviewing hiring terminations promotions performance review safety and sexual harassment.
- Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.
- Responds to inquiries regarding policies procedures and programs.
- Administers performance review program to ensure effectiveness compliance and equity within organization.
- Administers salary administration program to ensure compliance and equity within organization.
- Administers benefits programs such as life health dental and disability insurances pension plans vacation sick leave leave of absence and employee assistance.
- Investigates accidents and prepares reports for insurance carrier.
- Represent GST at personnelrelated hearings and investigations.
- Promote and hardness GSTs company culture and values.
Qualifications
- Minimum 57 years progressive generalist experience in all facets of HR with a strong background in benefits administration recruiting employee relations employment practices learning and assessment and compensation administration.
- Demonstrated success in recruiting for a multistate organization including sourcing interviewing and selecting candidates experience utilizing an applicant tracking system preferred.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal; ability to present to all levels within the organization.
- Strong analytical skills; ability to consistently track interpret and act upon metrics results.
- Technical HR knowledge EEO/AA FLSA OSHA federal/local laws.
- Excellent assessment and interviewing skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to both collaborate and lead on projects
- Strong computer skills (Outlook MS Excel Word PowerPoint HRIS/payroll systems experience)
- BA/BS degree preferred
- PHR preferred
