Health and Life Skills Director

Our Health and Life Skills Director (HLS Director) directs and manages daily operations of all Health and Life Skills programs activities special events and services throughout the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows. Other main focuses of this position are a concern for supervision and training of staff budget development personnel issues community relations school collaborations parent collaborations and volunteer recruitment. This includes the development of annual program objectives in conjunction with the other directors and overall clubwide objectives.

The mission of the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows is to enable all young people especially those who need us most to reach their full potential as caring productive responsible citizens.

These are some of the additional things you will do as a Health and Life Skills Director.

  • Develop implement administer and train on comprehensive HLS programs with an emphasis and support of Youth Development Outcomes services and activities for elementary middle and high school members and visitors.
  • Provide training leadership and direction to BGCTM locations program staff and directors in the management of a variety of HLS programs/curriculum projects and event requirements.
  • Plan and develop all special events shows and performances related to HLS programming.
  • Oversee recruitment of professional partners and volunteers.
  • Implement and prepare reports required for grants.
  • Regularly evaluate and audit the overall quality and objectives of programs. Provide a written analysis of observations and feedback annually or as warranted.
  • Travel (Up to 25 to local and rural BGCTM locations

Logistics:

  • This role is fulltime and benefiteligible. We always aim for consistent schedules for our staff to promote worklife balance.
  • Shifts are 9:00 am to 6:00 pm (Subject to change based on deadlines and program needs)

Qualifications

We have great staff that can teach you skills on the job but there are some traits that will make you more successful as a Health and Life Skills Director:

  • You are a fun energetic and excited individual.
  • You have a passion for building a better community.
  • You have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population and represent BGCTM professionally to the community.
  • You have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact professionalism and diplomacy.
  • You are able to function well in a highpaced and at times stressful environment.
  • You are proficient with Microsoft Office Suite Google or similar software.

As part of our commitment to child and member safety there are some additional steps that all hires will be asked to complete.

  • You will need to provide 3 references. These references should be professional references if you have work experience. If you dont have work experience these references can be any nonfamily member over the age of 18 who can speak to your character and professionalism.
  • You will also be asked to complete a drug screen background check and fingerprint check.
