Job Description Summary
The Financial Aid Verification & Packaging Specialist is responsible for a wide range of financial aid functions. This includes conducting verification of student data reviewing and processing Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) appeals and professional judgment requests and packaging various forms of federal state and alternative aid. The specialist ensures compliance with institutional state and federal guidelines and plays a vital role in supporting students with complex financial aid needs particularly in clocktocredit hour programs and for specialized aid such as alternative loans Parent PLUS loans DVR (Department of Vocational Rehabilitation) grants tribal grants and other aid programs.

Monday Thursday 8:00am 4:30pm OR 9:30am 6:00pm
Friday: 7:30am 4:00pm
Job Description
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
The following duties are primarily performed and are essential for this position. Employees are expected to be able to perform each of these job duties satisfactorily to be qualified for the position. Other duties may be and assigned.
- Process and package special types of aid including but not limited to:
- Federal Parent PLUS Loans Assist parents of dependent students with the application process determine eligibility and package the loan as part of the students overall aid
- Alternative (Private) Loans Coordinate with private lenders and ensure loans are processed in alignment with institutional policies.
- DVR (Division of Vocational Rehabilitation) Grants Work with DVR offices to ensure that students receiving vocational rehabilitation grants are packaged correctly and funds are applied appropriately.
- Tribal Grants Work with various tribal education offices to process tribal education grants. Assist students in navigating tribal funding resources and ensure grants are included in the overall aid package.
- Ensure accurate and timely disbursement of aid based on each students eligibility and program requirements.
- ClocktoCredit Hour Programs Evaluate and package aid for students enrolled in clocktocredit hour programs ensuring compliance with specific regulatory requirements related to these programs. Monitor student enrollment to adjust aid packages as necessary.
- Process and manage consortium agreements for students attending multiple institutions ensuring financial aid eligibility is accurately determined for both home and host schools.
- Conduct federal verification for selected students by reviewing tax documents verification worksheets and other supporting materials.
- Ensure all verification requirements are met in accordance with federal regulations and institutional guidelines.
- Communicate with students regarding FAFSA completion discrepancies and required documentation.
- Resolve discrepancies between FAFSA information and studentprovided documentation updating FAFSA data and adjusting aid packages when necessary.
- Review and process Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) appeals submitted by students who do not meet SAP requirements for continued financial aid eligibility.
- Work with students to gather supporting documentation evaluate the reasons for unsatisfactory academic progress and determine whether an appeal is approved or denied based on federal and institutional policies.
- Communicate appeal decisions to students updating their financial aid status and providing counseling on next steps if an appeal is denied.
- Review and process requests for dependency overrides and other professional judgment adjustments evaluating students unique financial and or family situations that may not be reflected on the FAFSA.
- Evaluate documentation for changes in income unusual family circumstances or other relevant factors and use professional judgment to adjust financial aid eligibility.
- Ensure compliance with federal regulations when adjusting a students financial aid package based on professional judgment.
- Stay current on changes to federal state institutional and other awarding agencys regulations for aid processing verification SAP appeals and professional judgment requests.
- Maintain accurate records of verification SAP appeals and professional judgment requests ensuring compliance with institutional policies and federal guidelines.
- Provide counseling to students and families on FAFSA completion SAP appeals and professional judgment requests helping them understand the financial aid process and their eligibility.
- Deliver highquality customer service responding promptly to inquiries and offering oneonone assistance where needed.
- Assist in the development and revision of policies and procedures as needed to reflect changes in federal and institutional regulations.
- Participate in crosstraining initiatives within the financial aid department to gain proficiency in a variety of financial aid processes ensuring seamless support across all areas during peak times or staff absences.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and/or Experience Requirements:
- Associates degree in finance business administration student services or a related field required; Bachelors degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in financial aid student services or related administrative roles with specific experience in FAFSA processing verification SAP appeals and professional judgment preferred.
- Strong familiarity with federal financial aid regulations including special aid programs verification SAP requirements and professional judgment guidelines.
Licenses Certifications and Other Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of financial aid regulations particularly related to verification SAP appeals and professional judgment.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail especially in reviewing financial aid applications and supporting documentation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial aid processes to students and families.
- Proficiency in financial aid management systems (e.g. Work Day) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work in a fastpaced environment and manage multiple priorities particularly during peak periods.

Work Environment
- This position operates in a professional office environment. The role may require some evening or weekend hours during highvolume periods. Work may be completed in a hybrid environment both in person and virtually.
Work environment may change based upon college needs.
Physical Requirements
- Sitting: This role requires extended periods of sitting while performing tasks and utilizing computer systems.
- Repetitive Motions: Capacity to perform repetitive motions such as typing without discomfort or injury.
- Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with students employees and stakeholders both inperson and through electronic means.

Additional Information
Pay Rate: $24.53 per hour.
Pay is based on a multitude of factors including experience qualifications education relevant certifications internal equity and market data. Note: Internal applicants wage will be based upon the applicable compensation guidelines.
