Primary Purpose of Position:

Are you looking for a dynamic work environment where you can grow and make an impact The North Carolina Museum of Art is seeking aMusic and Events Manager. The Music and Events Manager is the public face of NCMA WS responsible for maintaining community relationships supporting public programs welcoming visitors delivering warm hospitality and ensuring operational excellence while on campus. The Manager works to be knowledgeable in NCMA WSs history exhibition and program content gallery safety and security protocols retail procedures local businesses and events and museum memberships and rental opportunities.

This position is located at the North Carolina Museum of Art WinstonSalem (NCMA WS) a division of the NC Museum of Art dedicated to engaging audiences in contemporary art. The organization delivers curated exhibitions educational outreach programs music and other cultural performances. The Hanes House currently hosts most of the Museums public programs as well as its retail and coffee services. During most open hours the Hanes House functions as a warm quiet gathering space where visitors can work or simply hang out. The Music and Events Manager plans all music at NCMA WS while building relationships with artists educators and performing artists in Forsyth and surrounding counties.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Providing musical programming booking and contracting
  • Planning and dayof event management support for NCMA WS music including artist hospitality
  • Strategic planning for music programs including series ideation and artist outreach
  • Management of audio equipment
  • Building and maintaining relationships with artists artisans educators and performing artists in Forsyth and surrounding counties for the purpose of retail and program partner applications.
  • Activating Hanes House spaces in alignment with organizational intent.
  • Collaborating with other NCMA WS programmers to develop a cohesive campus program and visitor experience.

Position/Physical Requirements:
  • Typical work schedule is 9:00AM5:30PM except Thursdays which are 11:00AM8:00PM; includes some Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Must be able to frequently lift up to 50 lbs. of forcewithor without reasonable accommodation.

The North Carolina Museum of Art a division of the Department of Cultural Resources is the States premier visual arts institution. The statutory purpose of the Museum is to acquire preserve and exhibit works of art for the education and enjoyment of the people of the State and to conduct programs of education research and publication designed to encourage an interest in and an appreciation of art on the part of the people of the State GS 1405.12. Veterans and National Guard Preference
