Job Description
Position Summary
Santa Fe South Charter Schools seek a passionate and culturally responsive Dance Teacher to serve both middle and high school students (grades 612. The ideal candidate will inspire students through a comprehensive dance curriculum that fosters technical proficiency creative expression and cultural appreciation. This role involves teaching a variety of dance styles directing performances and integrating dance education with the broader school community.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Duties:
Design and implement a standardsbased dance curriculum aligned with the 2023 Oklahoma Academic Standards for Fine Arts encompassing:
Performing: Develop students technical skills and performance quality across various dance genres.
Creating: Guide students in choreographing original works emphasizing artistic intent and expression.
Responding: Teach students to analyze and interpret dance works fostering critical thinking.
Connecting: Encourage students to relate dance to personal experiences and cultural contexts.
Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and styles.
Utilize formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance.
Program Development:
Collaborate with thesite leadersto plan and execute schoolwide performances and events.
Establish and maintain partnerships with local arts organizations to enhance program offerings.
Stay current with best practices in dance education and integrate new methodologies as appropriate.
Professional Responsibilities:
Participate in faculty meetings professional development sessions and school events.
Maintain open and effective communication with students parents and colleagues.
Uphold the schools mission and values promoting a positive and inclusive school culture.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelors degree in Dance Dance Education or a related field preferred.
Demonstrated experience teaching dance to middle and/or high school students.
Proficiency in various dance styles including but not limited to ballet modern jazz and cultural dances.
Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a supportive learning environment.
