CNC MACHINIST
A Machinist at MartinBaker America is responsible for completely and independently setting up and operating various types of machines such as CNC mills and turning centers in order to produce parts to blueprint dimensions and tolerances.
The primary job responsibilities include setting up and operating a variety of machinery such as fouraxis horizontal milling machines threeaxis vertical milling machines turning centers Servo bed mills and bandsaws. The machinist will ensure that each machine is correctly set up calibrated and maintained for optimal performance while efficiently running operations to produce accurate and highquality parts. This involves preparing materials adjusting settings and monitoring the machining process to meet specifications and production targets.
Other tasks may include programming CNC mills and turning centers to meet specific production requirements. The machinist will also collaborate with inspectors and supervisors to evaluate the quality of machined parts determining any necessary adjustments to the program tools or fixturing in order to ensure the parts meet the required specifications and maintain production efficiency.
Required Education Skills and Experience
High School Diploma or GED
A successful machinist should possess strong math skills to accurately measure and calculate dimensions tolerances and angles while working with machinery. Critical thinking is necessary for troubleshooting equipment optimizing processes and resolving challenges that may arise during production. Effective communication is essential when collaborating with team members supervisors and other departments to ensure smooth workflow and quality standards. A resultsoriented approach helps machinists focus on meeting production targets maintaining quality and improving efficiency. Lastly reliability is crucial as machinists must ensure that their work is precise consistent and completed on time to meet deadlines and production goals
