About Carbon management team:
Wood Mackenzies Carbon Management group enables clients across the energy manufacturing and natural resources sectors to understand and respond to market and portfoliorelated climate risks and opportunities by providing comprehensive decisionuseful data and analytics.
Carbon Management has three discipline groups: CCUS Emissions and Carbon Markets. These roles will serve as part of the carbon management group.
In the Emissions group we provide calculation benchmarking and analysis of emissions across the full value chain of commodities. In the Carbon Markets group we track and forecast carbon prices research and report on carbon offsets carbon markets and policy.
In the CCUS group we build cost and valuation models interpret policies track market activity evaluate technologies and build deployment forecasts.
As part of the Lens Carbon service launch and expansion we are now recruiting for an associate role in Wood Mackenzies Mumbai office.
Job description:

Wood Mackenzies Carbon Management research team aspires to enable clients across the energy value chain to understand and respond to market and climate risks and opportunities by providing comprehensive decisionuseful carbon data and analytics.
The CCUS team within the carbon team is growing quickly as we help to drive the pace and scale of the energy transition serving different customer segments with integrated analysis. In the Carbon team we model CCUS opportunities across different sectors including oil and gas metals and mining commodities and power to name a few.
We support clients across the energy value chain to understand and respond to the market for CCUSlinked risk mapping and opportunities by providing comprehensive decisionuseful carbon data and analytics. Our services include tracking and forecasting 10year and 25year outlooks detailed economic valuations and reports of individual projects project data tracking for more than 50 variables on over 1000 projects policy tracking quarterly market insights and analytics.
Role purpose:
This role will serve as part of Wood Mackenzies CCUS research team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a strong global team and make a major contribution to decarbonisation and the energy transition at a global scale.
You will work together with our other global CCUS research team members to provide an assessment of CCUS applications in key hardtoabate sectors to assess the demandsupply dynamics for CCUS. He/She/We will also work to track and calibrate data and research ensuring we remain at the leading edge of this critical analysis. Your role would also be to support research relating to asset and company valuations. The project data and valuations are part of numerous other tools and services; as such you will also become a goto person to support stakeholders from related functions such as our data and product teams.
You will track policy updates and regulations and develop quick assessments to understand the impact of stakeholders and/or key players.
You will be expected to develop relationships with industry partners . Through your research and industry engagement you will establish a knowledge base to test assumptions on methodologies and represent Wood Mackenzies research in a highquality way to clients.
Main responsibilities:
The Research Associate is expected to:
Support and inform cashflow analyses and written content for individual CCUS projects (clusters hubs individual projects)
Contribute to regular written reports and insights on the changing way CCUS and other Carbon Removal mechanisms impact the Energy Transition
Work with the Modelling Centre of Excellence to translate fiscal and subsidy terms relevant to each market where carbon capture use and storage projects operate or are planned.
Provide underpinning research for market reports industry insight pieces and industry presentations with a career path towards delivering your own presentations.
Conduct highquality primary research with project developers governments and investors on projects costs policy updates and market evolution.
Provide highquality client service to research subscribers through responding to inquiries oneonone conversations and special events.
Collaborate with SMEs and internal stakeholders across Wood Mackenzie to support the creation of our content and be the lead owner of all CCUS projects in APAC for our project database.
Support in the modelling of WoodMacs CCUS demand potential and supply forecast for 10 and 25 years in collaboration with other sectoral experts in the Energy transition team and ensure highquality data and methodological alignment.
Knowledge and Experience:
Demonstrated achievement and growth in past academic and/or professional endeavors
Distinctive undergraduate academic achievement
Engineering scientific and financial expertise is an asset
Knowledgeable and experienced in financial modelling of energyrelated or similar assets
1 years or distinguishing previous experience in carbon management CCUS or CCUSrelated sectors (e.g. oil and gas power chemicals steel hydrogen cement) project development project and energy economics energy policy research and energy transition technologies and initiatives is an asset
Interest in policy landscape as it impacts the energy transition
Interest in energy demand technology adoption and technology cost modelling.
Strong excel and power point skills: Ability to convert large data into simple usable tools using pivots advanced excel formulas and create cohesive usable data sets
Strong drive for diligence and ownership: Ability to adapt to Wood Mackenzie styles and follow it consistently. Ability to own wor allocated with a strong focus on diligence.
Selfdriven. Capable of switching between the roles of an individual contributor and a collaborator.
Strong communication skills. Ability to write cogently. Comfortable interacting with clients and industry stakeholders.
Capable of doing financial analysis understand IRR models and impact of revenue and cost on cashflows will be an added advantage.
An engaging nature capable of connecting with coworkers clients and industry stakeholders in a wide range of professional settings around the globe.
Passionate with a deep intellectual curiosity about the energy transition. Specifically the impact of carbon capture and removal capability amid a wider global business and policy landscape.
