Position Description

The University of Mississippis (UM) National Center for Physical Acoustics (NCPA) invitesapplicationsfor aResearch Associate to administratively assist in performing research and supporting NCPA personnel activities programs and projects.

NCPA is comprised of several unique groups of researchers working in close collaboration on experimental research activities. These groups include scientists research staff graduate students and undergraduate interns. The work environment is interactive fast-paced and engaging. Current research activities are funded by NASA Army Navy Air Force and other government agencies & public entities.

NCPA has an established track record of successfully completing federally and commercially sponsored research projects. The candidate will be a direct-report to the NCPA business manager and support NCPA and all research groups as necessary.

Job Responsibilities

The candidate will have duties as directed by the Business Manager including acting as a liaison with on and off campus organizations such as Government agencies public companies and universities and other UM departments on behalf of NCPA; assist with creation of proposals and reports for sponsored programs; ensuring compliance with UM policies and procedures and funding agency guidelines and requirements; provide technical administrative and logistics support to funded projects and programs; and ensure accurate inventory for all NCPA-assigned equipment. The candidate may assist with onboarding managing and training graduate and undergraduate students.

Assignment Type: Non-Tenure Track

Minimum Qualifications

This position requires a bachelors degree in Mathematics Physics Engineering or other related scientific field or relevant work experience as determined by the hiring authority. Experience with the University of Mississippis SAP system is highly recommended and with accountable equipment inventory processes and procedures. Previous leadership and supervisory experience as a member of the Department of Defense highly desired. Other experience with technical project management with particular emphasis on Federally-funded programs is preferred but not required. The selected candidate must be eligible for U.S. Security Clearance.
