Job Description

River Oaks Baptist School is seeking a dynamic and innovative educator to join our team as a Lower School teacher beginning August 2025.

This person teaches approximately 18 students in a selfcontained classroom. In grades K 3 content areas include language arts mathematics social studies science and character development. Grade 4 is departmentalized and consists of either language arts or mathematics and social studies; all science is taught by the Lower School science teacher. Each Lower School teacher is an integral part of a gradelevel team that plans and works closely together. Lower School special area teachers provide instruction in art Bible computer library music Spanish theater and makerspace. This position reports to the Head of Lower School.

All Lower School faculty are supported by an experienced divisional team devoted to developing both students and faculty including a counselor learning specialists reading specialists instructional coaches an assistant division head a division head Associate Head of School for Academics and the Associate Head of School for Student Support.

As with all faculty openings we seek candidates eager to support our mission of preparing students to meet lifes challenges and lead tomorrows world through a superior educational program undergirded by faith in Jesus Christ and Christian principles.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach one classroom of approximately 18 students K3
  • In Grade 4 teach two sections of approximately 16 students
  • Model and guide students in Christlike values and character development
  • Employ current pedagogies including projectbased learning and design thinking
  • Deliver innovative curriculum that integrates technology intentionally and appropriately
  • Embrace lifelong learning and a growth mindset for adults and students alike
  • Participate collaboratively in gradelevel divisional and allschool teams
  • Develop and practice cultural competence in teaching and teamwork
  • Communicate effectively with parents and colleagues both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm energy initiative and selfreflection
  • Motivate engage and differentiate to support all students
  • Delight in teaching children in the elementary school years

Qualifications:

  • A vibrant Christian faith and a desire to work in a Christian environment
  • A bachelors degree
  • Teaching certification for the gradelevel applying
  • Two years fulltime teaching experience preferred
  • Successful completion of background checks and verification
