SUMMARY: Coordinates the work of exceptional learning specialist teaching staff and related service personnel to support district and school improvement efforts. Supports and manages the daytoday operations of the special education department. Administers functions related to local state and federal programs and regulations as they apply to special education. Assists in staff development hiring and evaluating certified and classified personnel. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned. - Research and facilitate implementation of evidencebased strategies; prepare and distribute materials/resources to supplement instruction.

- Strong Instructional Background
- Collaborates around the use of student and school disagragrated data to inform instructional decisions.
- Provides staff development opportunities for adminstrators and staff (certified and classified) to ensure classroom implementation of evidencebased strategies.
- Supports the operation of the department of special education.
- Meet regularly communicate and collaborate with other district leaders.
- Coordinates certified and classied special education staff.
- Administers local state and federal progams and interprets rules and regulations relating to special education.
- Develops and maintains forms reports and program procedures.
- Collects and analyzes district data related to state and federal indicators and reports information as required.
- Mediates and negotiates conflicts with staff and parents.
- Participates in interviewing process of teachers and other personnel.
- Assists in evaluation of special education personnel.
- Serves as EVSC representative on administrative and community agency committees.
- Maintains regular attendance.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Minimum 5 years of teaching experience Highly effective classroom teacher with demonstrated leadership abilities Masters degree with major area of study in the specified subject preferred. CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS: Valid Indiana teaching license. LANGUAGE SKILLS: - Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures and government regulations.
- Ability to write reports business correspondence and manuals.
- Ability to write proposals effectively to secure funds for the corporation.
- Ability to present information and to respond to questions effectively from groups of administrators teachers school board members parents students and the general public.
- Ability to communicate using correct grammar.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: - Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to prepare project monitor and revise multiple budgets.
REASONING ABILITY: - Ability to define problems collect and analyze data establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Ability to use available information and develop realistic longterm and shortterm plans for curricular goals.
