Title: Boys and Girls Cross Country Assistant Varsity Coach
Position Type: Supplemental
Reports to: Athletic Director and Head Cross Country Coach
Qualifications:
- Experience in the designated sport. Previous experience running or coaching XC (at high school or college.
- Must meet all coaching requirements as specified by the Board of Education and OHSAA including acquiring a pupil activity permit and CPR certification
- Van certification preferred
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist the head coach in the supervision and instruction of the GHS Boys and Girls Cross Country team consisting of approximately 1525 studentathletes.
- Follow all OHSAA and MidState League rules and regulations.
- Conduct regular practices for the team.
- Coach studentathletes in a positive manner.
- Ensure the safety of all studentathletes during practices and competitions.
- Develop practice and training plans for athletes with differing ability levels.
- Coaching will require six days per week including practices and contests. 1520 hours per week is a typical time commitment for the coach.
- Supervise and travel with the team to all competitions.
- Ability and willingness to take direction support the vision of the program set by the Head Coach.
- Respond in a timely fashion to communications from Head Coach Athletic Administration and students.
- Collaborate with the head coach and help set the direction/tone of the program.
- Liaison to connect with studentathletes and bring any concerning issues to the Head Coach.
- Primary goal is to support the program team and Head Coach.
- Familiar with google sheets/docs.
- Records workouts/spreadsheet format/formulas.
- Writes up meet summaries for website/social media releases.
- Assist with the collection of uniforms and apparel.
- Help plan for and attend Cross Country camp in August.
- Assists with home meet planning and administration.
- Assists with fundraising activities.
- Assist with recruitment of current Grandview Heights students.
- Recommended: Owns bike to bike with team or run as specified.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Working Conditions
- Occasional operation of a vehicle in inclement weather
- Regular requirement to sit stand walk talk hear see and read
- Regular requirement to lift equipment up to 50 pounds
