Job Description
Sunchild First Nation School has an opening for an additional elementary generalist for theSchool year.
The school administration is seeking an enthusiastic and creative individual who is willing to join an incredible staff and brings experience endless energy and devotion to teaching Aboriginal youth. The successful applicant needs to be highly organized create an engaging learning environment and have high professional standards. The applicant needs to be able to indigenize content and pedagogy support learners with diverse learning strategies and approaches as well as bring innovative solutions to learning challenges experienced by students.
Sunchild School is a K to Grade 12 School with 396 students and 70 staff many of whom have worked at the school for 12 years. The teaching facilities are wellequipped and offer bright and technologyrich learning environments. The staff is dedicated to studentcentred programming that promotes academic excellence and exposes students to innovative extracurricular activities.
The school is located 65 km northwest of Rocky Mountain House. There is availability in teacher housing close to the school. We have a competitive pension and benefit package as well as salaries comparable to the provincial school boards.
Teachers must be eligible for Alberta Teachers certification. New graduates of Bachelor of Education programs are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate must also submit a criminal record check and intervention record checks as a condition of employment.
The start date for the position is August 27 2025. Closing will be on April 30th. Interviews will be conducted on Monday May 5th. Either in person or via Google Meet depending on the interviewers request.
