Floor Gymnastics Specialist

Camp Carmel Creek is a program of The San Diego Jewish Academy. We create summer adventures filled with joy growth curiosity and intention through a unique model combining classic daycamp the focus of a specialty camp and the connection of a sleepaway camp. We believe lifes most valuable lessons come from independent discovery and perpetual curiosity. Responsibilities
  • Plan and lead engaging floor gymnastics sessions for campers in kindergarten through 6th grade focusing on flexibility strength coordination and basic tumbling skills.
  • Teach fundamental techniques such as rolls cartwheels handstands bridges and jumps in a safe and developmentally appropriate manner.
  • Create a positive and encouraging environment where campers feel confident trying new skills and progressing at their own pace.
  • Emphasize proper warmup stretching and injury prevention techniques to ensure camper safety.
  • Adapt activities and skill progressions to accommodate different ability levels ensuring all campers are challenged and supported.
  • Work collaboratively with other camp staff to integrate gymnastics into campwide events performances and theme days.
  • Maintain and organize gymnastics equipment ensuring mats and other apparatus are clean safe and properly set up.
  • Participate in staff training before camp begins to align on spotting techniques safety protocols and instructional methods.
  • Assist with setup and cleanup of the gymnastics space before during and after the camp season.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of campers by maintaining close supervision using proper spotting techniques and fostering a respectful teamoriented atmosphere.
Qualifications
  • Experience teaching gymnastics to children preferably in a camp school or gymnastics facility setting.
  • Strong knowledge of floor gymnastics fundamentals including proper techniques progressions and spotting methods.
  • Ability to adapt instruction for different skill levels ensuring safety and individual camper success.
  • Certification in gymnastics instruction (e.g. USAG YMCA or equivalent) is preferred but not required.
Leadership: AAs an activity specialistyou are responsible for your own group of campers. You support them you guide them you mentor and coach them you are there to give them the best summer ever.
Communication: Good communication between you and your campers between you and your supervisor between you and your coworkers is essential to a successful day at camp.
Organization: Following the schedule getting to activities on time being creative and planning programs for your campers on a daily basis.
Problem Solving: Good problemsolvers are adaptable resilient collaborative and openminded. A camp day presents many opportunities to flex these muscles.
Teamwork: Camp is not about the individual. Success is not defined by what you do alone its about what we do as a team. Learning to work together and rely on each other to achieve our goals is whats most important.
Term Of employment Date: (June 16th August 8nd Monday Friday 8:30 am 3:30 pm) 4 staff training dates prior to June 16th. 3040 hours of online and in person paid training prior to the start of camp)
Salary Range: $22$30 per hour. Our pay scale is based on level of schooling and experience.
