General Description / Primary Purpose:
The Assistant Director of Development for Intercollegiate Athletics under the direction of the Senior Associate Athletics Director and Assistant Vice President or above is responsible for seeking identifying cultivating and soliciting annual fund and major gifts and prospects.
Job Function:
The primary responsibility of the Assistant Director of Development is to seek identify cultivate and solicit gifts for the Athletics Department.
The position will be responsible for meeting annual revenue and memberships goals for the Osprey Club and Athletics Development as established by the Director of Athletics Senior Associate AD and University Developments Assistant VP.
Develop new sources for fund raising and revenue including increases in annual giving from current donors and future prospects.
Identify and qualify new prospects for major gifts and support of Athletic Department initiatives and document all activity in the CRM database.
Nurture longterm relationships on behalf of the Athletic Department with contributors including individuals corporations and foundations.
Attend donor events as a representative of the Athletic Department and use those events as cultivation opportunities.
Directly manage and execute annual fund and crowd funding initiatives including 904 Day and Giving Day.
Assist with the planning and of fundraising events including the AD Reception Golf Classic Hall of Fame Blue & Gray Bash and other special events.
Assist with Hospitality operations.
Create publications and promotional materials for cultivation and solicitation purposes.
Attend University Development and Alumni Engagement (UDAE) Staff and PTS meetings and keep the CRM database up to date.
Work in a coordinated and collaborative effort with University Development staff regarding identification stewardship and proposal development.
Work directly with coaches in support of sportspecific giving and alumni events/communication.
Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Senior Associate AD or UDAE Assistant VP as they related to overall fundraising goals.
Marginal Functions:
Active member of the Athletics external operations team. May represent the Athletic Department and/or University on local committees.
Departmental Requirements:
Related experience may include a combination of fundraising external sales external/community affairs business development marketing or experience that involves reaching out to external constituencies to engage more closely with the organization or company you represent. Must be a proven selfstarter who can work independently and hold her/himself accountable for results. Excellent interpersonal skills (position requires high visibility internally and externally). Superior written and verbal communication skills. Proven computer literacy. Experience with fundraising software. Experience in Athletics is preferred.
