Work hard have fun and make history with Amazon Public Policy. The Manager Public Policy will help to lead engagements with think tanks trade associations and other key external partners in Washington DC.
The Manager Public Policy will be a highly visible position that will create execute and manage responses to key public policy issues. The Manager will help to drive Amazons external engagement efforts by communicating with trade associations think tanks and other nonprofits. They will educate these groups about Amazon and how we serve customers and support small businesses and will build strategies to deepen Amazons relationships including by representing the company at conferences and meetings.
The Manager will work collaboratively and transparently with different business units to ensure alignment between business priorities and public policy goals. The Manager will assess and communicate external activities back to the business and the public policy team develop strategies and positions and manage and coordinate external advocacy efforts.
This position will report to the Senior Principal Public Policy and will work closely with other public policy team members to execute goals.
BA/BS required
At least 8 years of relevant public policy experience
An ability and desire to travel is required
Broad government relations strategy experience
Demonstrated experience building relationships with groups such as trade associations think tanks or other nonprofits to help achieve public policy objectives. Or demonstrated experience working for one such organization and building relationships with supporters to achieve public policy objectives.
Ability to understand how technical language in legislative and regulatory proposals could affect corporate operations identify business implications and synthesize policy documents for internal and external audiences.
Demonstrated ability to be both a substantive issue expert on matters related to Amazons business and a manager of complex regulatory and political issues
Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience creating and effectively delivering factual relevant and easily understandable talking points and other messaging
Demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact at the highest corporate legislative regulatory agency and other government levels
Ability to maintain the highest personal levels of ethical conduct confidentiality and integrity
