Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Advising/Dual Credit reports directly to the Associate Dean of Advising Services. The Assistant Director provides support and management to both Advising Services and the Dual Credit Office serving as second in command in both areas. The Assistant Director supports lead in both areas to implement strategies to promote both retention and new student enrollment. The Assistant Director provides training to all new advisors/dual credit advisors and takes the lead in producing resources/materials for staff and external partners.

Job Duties:

  • Serve as second in charge of Advising Services and Dual Credit.

  • Manage both Administrative Assistants in Advising Services.

  • Manage and assist with transfer initiatives (KCTCS peer team transfer partners and transfer events).

  • Provide leadership related to enrollment management for advising/dual credit to include:

  • Serve as liaison for advising/dual credit with PRMA to promote advising/dual credit for all pivotal registration periods.

  • Coordinate registration events (Tables for advising and dual credit events etc..

  • Assist with dual credit and transfer partner visits/events.

  • Work with administrative assistants to ensure that outreach initiatives go out regularly and strategically to ensure students/partners are aware of all important enrollment timelines.

  • Work with Registrar to implement strategies to ensure dual credit students apply for graduation for all credentials for which they are eligible.

  • Provide weekly enrollment list of dual credit students to dual credit advisors and ensure they notify partners weekly.

  • Provide leadership related to student success to include the program applicability BCTC First initiatives and consistent submission of FYE waivers for dual credit students applying for graduation.

  • Assist Associate Dean with student advisor assignment process.

  • Provide training for advisors (professional and faculty)/dual credit advisors/student development specialists to cover advising and dual credit processes.

  • Provide Advising Hub/Dual Credit updates on critical documents for all advisors and dual credit partners.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree (Education Counseling or related field) and two years related experience or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree (Education Counseling or related field) and three years related experience
